Don't be so quick to think you need new brakes if you have high milage. I'm about to hit 45K and am told by two seperate shops that my brakes still have about 70% life.

ok so... I took my car into the "service center" at my dealership... to "have my brakes fixed" well they told me this was occuring because I had painted all of my calipers and my breaks were sticking.. well see the funny thing is I painted my calipers about 2 months after they had already been squeeking and thankfully still have the receipt to prove it lol..all they did was cleaned the pads and charges me for that worthless service.. anyways surprise as soon as I left what do ya know that REALLY annoying squeeking sound was back again like a fat kid to a cookie jar so I called them the very next morning and they are going to look at it again on thursday.. My service center is REALLY starting to frustrate me with this.. but I'll let you guys know what happens

I started having this problem again but it only happens when the car is in reverse.. I think it has something to do with the e-brake.

Every once and awhile I'll go down to the track and want to do a really nice burnout.. Well, in order to do that I usually pull up on the e-brake so it doesn't move. I'm guessing that's what caused this problem.

I was wondering if replacing the rear brake pads will correct this issue or if there is something else that has to be fixed/replaced. Does the e-brake use the rear brake pads or is there a drum-like system setup in the rear for the e-brake?

i just had a prob tonight. for about 2 miles my driver side rear was making this terrible squeeking sound, regaurdless of being on the brakes or not. after about 2 miles it stopped. im ____ed now cause i have an autocross 2mrw but im worried something is wrong with my rear break. grrrr.

mine squeak alot in the morning after i pull it out of the garage on to the driveway and it only does it in reverse, sometimes they can squeak w/ surfuce rust from the rain or car wash but nothin to bad, im not to worried about it, my brake system works fine, i still have my warranty so if anything breaks the dealer will pay for it.

have you ever changed your brake pads?!?! 45k and 70% left w/o changing the pads is kind of not believable. not unless you don't use your brakes!!

i'm getting the same squeaking noise too but mine doesn't do it in the morning. it happens EVERY TIME i drive the car. it's so annoying driving a new model vehicle making squeaking sounds like a very old car. i'm at 35k miles and i checked the pads, they're still thick. i do see rust buildup on the rotors though.

~18.5 k miles and squeaks usually every morning in reverse coming out of the garage.

this might sound kinda strange.. but it happens. Check your lug nuts, if one of them is just slightly lose, it will squeak occasionally.
It also could possibly be your ebrake getting stuck, or even your brakes.
idk, in my opinion.. I wouldn't go and spend 240 on rotors when the problem could be something else

i just started having the same problem this week. it sounded like a pipe was draggin on the ground under my car and i freaked out and pulled over and looked under it and couldn't see anything but then people were blinkin their lights at me on the road so i dunno wth. it stopped making the noise after like 10 mins but i dunno what the problem is. the car has 13,000 miles on it and some change

oh gees that's scary.. I wonder what's going on.. good luck on getting it fixed.. hopefully your dealership is better then mine

Dealership told me my rotors are warped and need to be resurfaced. They wanted to charge me $100 dollars to resurface them. I'm just gonna hit up cquence for 4 cross drilled and slotted rotors at $150. New brake pads and that should solve the problem for a loooong time.

My car squeaks only in reverse even when not using the brakes, I know I need new brakes, but should it squeak pretty badly from the front of the car even when the brakes aren't engaged?

^^^ brake pads are shifting, making noise in the mounting clips. typical of these brakes. anti-noise compound will stop it.

I'm in the same boat, I'm at 40K with 50% left. I sure am doing better then my last car, I only made in to 20K with the stock pads, I guess I'm getting better at down shifting and driving in general.

I recently went "offroading" in my tc up in N. GA and since mine have been making some noise, though I know it's because of the dust I was picking up. Personally I don't think you have anything to worry about.
