Hows this, Open Road July 8th last summer here in PA. Was at the stop sign looked left looked right saw noone on the road. So heck lets turn left and head away from the mall and away from usual PA State Police Radar Traps. (Being Capt for a Vol Fire Dept I usually know where they sit) So I turn left putt for about 1/4 mile and see open road and rolling hills, so what else punch it. I'm in 4th gear spooling nicely and just cruising with the hills when I see that familiar PA MARKED State Police Car with the Berries and Cherries Rotating away. And im like nah he can't be after me he must be going to that domestic I heard on my radio. NOPE WHOOP WHOOP "PULL YOUR F***ING VEHICLE OVER NOW!!!!" I'm like oh ****!!!! So I pull over he slams his door walks up hat on Aviators on. And screams "ARE YOU FU**ING DUMB?????!!!!" Shocked I said uhh no? He says do you know how fast you were going? I said well uh, he says 103mph. Im like well uh um. He says shut the hell up. And did you not see me sitting back there idiot???????? I didn't i was cruising. He says here, $670.00 fine and your going to loose your license a$$hole. Im like is there really a need for the language. I told him im the Capt of the local fire dept he bends down gets in my face and says I DON'T CARE. Says have a nice day and gets back in his car hits the siren and says MOVE over his intercom so I do he passes me on double yellows and long long story short I fought it in court filed a grievance against him and he has been decommissioned as a state trooper and works as a mall cop now with all my fines and penalties dropped. I think he forgot that PA State Trooper Portable Radios also record conversations between Trooper and Motorist via the lapel mic hows that for a good ending?

Colorado State Police used to have a Eclipse, I haven't seen it in a while though. It look pretty sweet I will have to admit.
All I have to say about the Subaru Car is, they have to get smarter eventually and stop driving boats around.

Ya in NY when i go home we look out for taxis and limos as well as a yellow vet z06 who happens to be a friends uncle, but still. there are so many undercover "racer" looking cars in NY. There is also task force in Westchester that uses anything they want. My friend was pulled over by a gold 98 maxima with a donut on... that wasnt fun.
In Charlotte tho i have seen a mustang gt, camero, mustang cobra and 350z that were confiscated and turned into cop cars, those things are fast and you aren't getting away. also saw a bmw bike that was an undercover. it flicked its lights on when i was next to it and i almost shat myself

If the OP was the one that got rear-ended, then that shouldn't usually be his fault. In Oklahoma, we have "The Basic Speed Rule" which states in part that if you do the rear-ending, you're at fault, because you were driving too fast for conditions. The rear-endee is not at fault. I don't know how it works in other states, but it seems Oklahoma's Basic Speed Rule makes a lot of sense.
Unusual police cars are one thing, but unmarked cars are another. If you're about to be stopped by an unmarked car with standard registration plates (instead of "STATE" or "EXEMPT" plates), then call your state's highway patrol or just 911 on your cellphone and say that someone is trying to pull you over in a fake police car and you fear for your safety. Drop down to the speed limit, turn on your four-ways, and start driving towards a town, and stay on the line with dispatch until they verify that it is a real police car. This can mean the difference between getting a lot of tickets or just none at all, as it's an embarassment to a police department when their unmarked cars backfire.
Edited to say that if dispatch confirms with certainty that it is a real police car, pull over at that time. When the police officer approaches your car, apologize to him for the trouble, but that you had a legitimate safety concern. Do NOT insinuate that it makes his stop less legitimate because it was an unmarked car, or try to pull the 'entrapment' card.
