*** GROUP BUYS ***
If you can get 10+ people to buy the same item, you can get it for less then retail with free s&h. For example, lowest Tein H. Tech springs (Retail $220) I found were $165.00+$25.00=$190.00. So most likely, the group buy will be $160-$165 with free shipping. Prices are very competitive but you'll have to do some work in posting and finding people. There are also required deadlines. If you're interested and don't mind waiting, it's a good deal. E-mail them for quotes.

I just got the TRD Rear sway bar and noticed a ton of differnece on the street setting. Isn't 27mm overkill? I mean 273% stiffer than stock is PRETTY stiff.

I think if you pair that Hotchkis rear bar with the stock front one you could have problems. However, if you install both of the Hotchkis bars it sounds like it would be a nice setup. I'll have to consult the manual to see how difficult the front bar is to replace, but I think I'd like to pick up the Hotchkis bars when they come out.

Mods,

Please harvest the information and just sticky or FAQ a post that lists the suspension part name and specs. Since price is subject to change I don't know if that matters.

Thanks.

Ranthese,

Thanks for this information. A lot of people will find this helpful in the coming months and years. Lets keep this updated. Also, if you have the spring rates on the springs that would be HUGE. Because anyone that knows anything about suspension knows a spring rate is WAY more important then how much it lowers a vehicle.

Thanks a ton again!

After my near death, freeway spinning out experience I've decided to invest in some suspension mods. The mechanic @ the dealership told me that a front sway bar and lowering springs will help reduce oversteer, which will help prevent the back end from fishtailing during swerving. So I'm wondering if TRD has a FRONT sway bar made for the tC? If so, how much...if not who does? and how much? Also, how much $ am i looking at having springs (from mcgeorge) and a front sway bar (if available) installed? Obviously not at a Toyota dealership but some aftermarket shop.... Any ideas?

RussianTC,

I don't know your full story, but I am willing to guess that your accident was a cause of you and not the car. Please bare with me here. The car has a soft suspension, sway bars, and a huge weight difference 60f/40r. This means that under normal circumstances where the driver doesn't do anything violent, the car will understeer. While a larger front sway bar then the rear will induce more understeer, I really think the car is already set to have higher understeer from the factory, due to sway bar size and weight distrobution. I have hit corners at 40mph and can predict exactly when the front end will begin to slide.

When the rear breaks away it's caused by a similar but not exactly the same reason you get oversteer. The main reasons you get either is because the car has a bit high of a center of gravity and that the rear sway bar is to large. The only other reason a car will tend to oversteer has to do primarily will overly stiff rear springs. Since your car is stock, it is highly unlikely that is the case.

I know mechanics tend to be trusted, as they should be most of the time. Please investigate this yourself and you will see what I am talking about. What you really need is lowering springs, and rear sway bar from TRD. There is other sway bars coming out on the market that have an even stiffer rolling resistance, but that is not always a good thing. If you have too much stabilizer bar, you tend to lose independence between the suspension members on both sides of the car. When one wheel hits a bump, the stabilizer bar transmits the bump to the other side of the car as well, which is not what you want. The ideal is to find a setting that reduces body roll but does not hurt the independence of the tires.
