it is for the xB, but the steps and location of the filter box are exactly the same as on our car

The cabin air filter is great. Its the first thing I did to my car when I got it, but I didnt get the $20 one from the dealer. I actually went to target and found a furnace one for about $2!! It was also large enough for me to make 3 extra filters.

The filter from Wix is not the cabin filter...it's the filter for the airbox intake...y'know the one under your hood.

Unless you have your windows closed most of the time, you won't need this cabin filter.

^ confused. The cabin filter "filters" the air coming in/circulating in your car that goes through the vents. If you have your windows down most of the time, it defeats the purpose! lol. It's like me investing in a cabin filter for my t-top mr2

ya your right personally, i dont like driving with my windows down unless im going slow, so i have me vent on most of the time. I have found that the air filter helps a bit, but a better one would be nice

I actually have a write-up on the DIY, but not on this site.... I have it on www.socal-tc-club.com and on www.clubsciontc.com

I just used a filter for a home central air until and cut six pieces out of it

That whole thing about 'Oh, the tC is not DESIGNED to have an air filter... It will make your car explode!" sounds a lot like dealership BS to me.

I'll definately be getting a cabin air filter in the near future. Sure, I drive with the sunroof open half the time, but what about those times you drive by an open sewer, or a cattle farm, or Barstow...

Do as waterdragon suggested, read his DIY. Go to target or home depot you lazy bastards. Get some scissors out and cut it out and throw it in.
This is the most basic mod you can do. Take you a half hour including the trip to get your big ___ furnace filter from the store. Unless you live right next to the place.
LOL
Get it, cut it, put it in. Done!

Oh yeah, same for the xA too.

so I was curious about this whole air filter thing, I went to advanced auto parts and gave them the part number, they had to order it and told me it would arrive tomorrow, cost only $13, its the OEM toyota filter (which the dealer wanted 20 for), so I said what the hell...well I was scared to break something when installing but it was such a breeze, the glove box came out like a dream...ohh and my filter cartridge was empty..not any more.

Did your car blow up? Did you break something doing the install?
So simple yet so many weary to do it.

no not at all, it's so simple you would be suprised. I have never touched or removed anything from my car. I am always scared to modify anything, if you want me to take a pic of how I did it, let me know and I'll put it up.

Instead of a furnace filter, like most are using, i went to home depot, and bought a charcol pre filter for one of the home air filters units, u know the ones that asthmatics and smokers use, then cut it to fit. We seem to have an abundance of roadkill skunks where i live, i needed somehting to kill the smell it was 15 bucks, but i got enough for 6-8 filters.

Do you guys actually notice it when the filter is installed? I'm thinking of putting one in cause I always get stuck in traffic and there's always trucks around here choking me with smoke. Would it help in that case such that I can be behind this trucks with the vents open and not notice?
