tC Dyno Test with CAI

can someone explain what a CAI is that adds the 8-12 hp u guys are talking about?

and does this cai kill the warranty on the engine? most parts do


but i would definately pay 55 for 10hp

lol, CAI stands for "cold air intake". Most cai kits out there aren't "true" cai, because the air they are getting is from inside the engine bay, tell me the engine bay air isn't hot. The brand name ones though are, they route air to your intake from the outside. Colder air is denser, so the more air you have mixing with your fuel, the "bigger" the bang and the more power you get. I have a Cai on my 91 mr2. I have a huge K&N cone filter right next to my side intake. You can really tell a difference between 85 degree weather in the day and 60 degree weather at night.

It also won't void your warranty unless they can trace that your intake was so horrible, it let so much crap through and it ruined the engine. I know a guy who bought an ebay intake or some sort, and the piping cracked and it got sucked through the pipe and jammed up the turbo...ouch.

I read in a magazine, Car and Driver I think, test a tC and have the dynorun and put 141HP and 151TQ but with AEM CAI and TRD exhaust. The issue was of November I will put the link later..
