tC insurance... has it changed?

tC insurance... has it changed?
I know this is somewhat of a repost, i posted a topic about this over the summer, BUT when I went with my dad to the Scion dealer in RSM, CA this week, the guy mentioned that it was a "sports coupe"? I remember over the summer, it was being classified as a sedan or hatchback. I then pursued to read the Scion magazine they have at the dealers and it also said "SPORTS coupe".
a.Has the class of cars changed since summer?
b.Wat are u paying for insurance right now? And i mean full coverage insurance, not a minimum policy. I am 17 1/2 and yes i have a speeding ticket... So i am wondering where it will be
As for the speeding ticket I felt I must clarify this for everyone. I am currently driving the family '93 Toyota Previa minivan. I was on my way home from a "friendly" game of cards at a friends house one day. As I was about halfway home, I went on to a street where I then hit 4 count 4 consecutive RED lights, in medium traffic. The cop pulled me over at my 5th RED light, saying that I was going 63 mph in a 45 zone. I had never been pulled over before and was so scared to argue with a cop I tried the "play innnocent" routine very respectful and sorry. Well, needless to say I guess it only works for girls The Previa is 0-60 in around 15 seconds or so... so it was physically impossible to reach that speed. My parents went back and tested it in our 98 Previa (yes we have 2 of the damn things). and they could barely pull of 63. My uncle is a lawyer and suggested I not fight my first ticket especially since I am 17 I wold prob lose the case. So thats my story, had to get my name clear!

well, I was talking to someone at Progressive where I got the car insured on Nov 10th and they were looking up the car to re-state my quote and he said "it's a hatchback, right?" and I said yes, it's listed on the progressive site as a 3-door liftback coupe
if they try to list it as a "sports coupe" please remind them you're not driving a Nissan 350z or a porche, you're driving a sedan with a toyota camry engine

My insurance company doesnt even have a rate for the tC yet. My insurance card even says "2004 toyota camry" which bothers me a bit since the camry is the #1 most stolen car in america so I'd imagine the insurance is a bit high.

I actually found the insurance on my tC to be really low. I was looking into getting a 04 SVT focus, a 05 ZX4 ST focus or my tC. I expected to pay out the ___ cuz I live in Jersey, am a guy, and am under 28....ya they raised the cutoff for Jersey to 28 for our lower rate. In talking to my insurance company I found they have a 27 point system to rate risk for every model car. They use model, class, location, claims in your area, HP to weight ratio, as well as some other considerations to get the overall # and base your rate on that. A 1 on the scale would be your 88 Dodge Omni and a 27 your 05 Porch. The SVT rated a 20, the ZX4 ST a 17 and the tC an 11. I find myself to be lucky I only have to pay 2300 a year considering the 4000 they quoted me on the SVT would have been more then the payments.

Well, I think you should fight it, and if you do your research and bring in the 0-60 time of the Previa, and mesure the distance, and show that is impossible they should revoke the ticket. Keep on tring the respect thing, I have been pulled over three times and it has worked every time and I'm a GUY. I have even been pulled over going 65 in a 30, (should have be arrested since it was double the speed limit) and I still got out of it, my excuse was that I just tuned my car up and I was pushing my car to see if I did the tune up right. It worked like a charm and I got a written warning, and the cops say it stays in town and next time I get pulled over I Will get a ticket, well it hasn't happened yet. It also helps to have the cop sticker in your back window. My grandfather was a cop and my whole family has the stickers.
