i have owned 2 different supras and can tell you that things might get pricey depending on what breaks. both of mine were tt so the valve stems gave away. the other weakness for the car is the front main seal if you go single. everything else had been pretty good as far as reliability. knowing that this is an older car, if anything breaks, i say just fix it (at least thats what my motto is). do know that youll soon be throwing money at it though

keep in mind, also, that the 2jz in an NA supra is not the same 2jz as a turbo supra. the one everyone knows and loves is the one that comes in the turbo supra. the NA version uses a distributor for starters, and thats going to limit your output quite a bit if you're going to turn it into one of those power monsters!

anyway just something to remember :] supras are great.

true that the 2jzge is not the same at the 2jzgte, but there are only a few differences. The 2jzge can still hold up to 700whp without rebuilding, And im only looking to make 300-400 whp at low boost for a DD if I end up getting the car. It will still be a very quick car even though it is the ge not the gte. Itd still be amazing to drive though.

Default supra

You cant go wrong with the supra. Even with the high mileage it is a very reliable car. I have built many of these cars and owned several. I have many of these cars making 700-800 hp with high mileage motors and no problems. The ge motor is pretty much the same motor for reliable hp at the 400-500 range without any motor work. If things are done right and proper tuning you should have a reliable daily driver with your goal. Is this car an automatic or a 5 speed? Good luck!

Thanks, Yea thats what ive found out in my research on the motor. Its a 5 speed. I dont think I would ever by a supra in an a/t. Im just praying everything checks out good with the car. If it does then im getting started with the project right away.
