Yes... they are built there... but not like what you're thinking.

The xA and xB were originally Japanese models (the bB and ist)... the tC does NOT have a Japanese counterpart. They're just made there and shipped over.

yep all tCs, including yours, are built in japanese toyota assembly plants, whether the models are fully loaded or merely bases. they are not sold in japan as any model and although the design belongs to toyota japan, the distribution is managed by toyota, u.s.

i had to wait a month to get my tC from japan (well worth it tho)

 

if you look on a new tC..you will see two stickers on the car on the drivers side 1/4 window.

there is a white sticker about 4x4 in size telling everything about the car, and it says the location...

i believe the location is like Hyro____o, Japan or something, i can't really remember.

 

There's the rumor that the tC will soon become a JDM Celica.

You guys can also check the sticker at the driver side by the , like close to the driver seat. There are stickers and it will tell you that its made in japan. We are kinda lukcy cuz i heard a rumor that they're gonna start building a scion plant in Ontario,CA. I don't know how sure my info. is but just to let you know.

TC was designed by maserati and made in Japan.
The XB and the XA are models that Japan was selling before scion even came out.
They are made 100 percent in Japan which means 100 percent reliablity.
