Default TC in the snow?

I know some of the plains states have had some snow already. Just wondering if anybody has any feedback on how the TC handles in the snow. Did you change out the tires?

:D

I can tell you the car will handle like ____ if you keep the stock tires on. Strictly summer tires even if they say all-season. I'm sure if you switch out the tires for some Blizzaks or any winter tire it would handle pretty well, with the 2900+ lbs. I'm sure it will be a little twitchy with the 163lbs of Torque though.

Default Drive Slow

It snowed 2 days ago here... about 1/2 inch on ground... slush, still have stock tires and droved slowly. It was ok... wasn't sliding or anything, but if it was hard ice might have a hard time controlling.

I should have a set of dedicated winter tires soon though.

Low gearing + crappy RE92s = not fun

RE92s are horrible tires for dry and wet. Worse in the snow.

Mine was fine during a road trip a week or two ago. I went through Northern AZ, which had about a foot or 2 on the ground, the car did fine. Nothing unexpected, as long as you don't do anything stupid.

It dumped about 7 inches last week here in Denver. Didn't do so hot out on the roads. But not sure if it's me or the car. I've been driving Subarus for the past 4 winters so I'm not used to thinking that much about how I drive in the snow.

Once I get the hang of driving FWD in the snow agian I'm sure I'll be alright with out getting blizzacks. Blizzacks are friggn' expensive and they fall apart on dry roads. So if you only get a good dump every other week they're not worth it.

Thanks for all of your replies. I figure it will probably react like any other front wheel drive car but I just wanted to check. Any new info is always welcome.

Thanks!! :D

I would like to switch over a dedicated set of snow tires and steel wheels for my tC. Can 15" steel wheels clear the calipers okay or do I have to go the next size up to 16" steelies?

The new ones, the LM-22's I think, hold up pretty well on dry roads.

I was out in that storm, too.. the ABS has a nice quick response and felt really good. The tC did great in the snow, I never had a problem and was even playing around a little bit on the side streets. Snowy mountain highways might be a different story, but as far as getting through town, I thought the tC was great!

i live in new england .. i am investing in some 15" steel wheels (which if yer wondering fit perfectly well over the calipers) and a set of off-brand (star magna somethin or other) studless snow tires from a cheap tire place for $400 dollars installed ... i dont wanna name the place cuz everyone doesnt like advertising in the threads ... i thought it was a pretty good deal .. i am gettin snow tires cuz of the responses people have said on here ... get snow tires and steel wheels .. better safe then sorry i say .. dont wanna crash my new TC in its first winter ...
