"scion is having no trouble selling the tC. its one of the fastest selling small coupe's in america (according to some statistic i saw posted a while back),"
It's the 2nd fastest selling car in America right now, slightly behind the new prius.

I'm 30 and in the past I have a habit of doing some mods to my car and usually charging them on credit cards. What attracted me to the Scion TC (over the more powerfull Neon SRT I was also thinking about) WAS the options. For around 22,000 I got a nice sounding exhaust, spoiler, ground effects, very cool sun-roof, excellent fog lights, Carbon Fiber trim, Hotchkis strut bar,TRD lowering springs, 10" sub woofer that is more than enough for me, IPOD interface, 18" Enkei/Scion wheels and tons of great standard equipment with Toyota quality @ 6.7% interest rate and one payment.

You're all missing the point
I don' think the guy expects these options to be STANDARD but rather OPTIONAL UPGRADES. I, for one, agree with him. I'm the kind of person that likes to buy first party peripherals. I don't want to get an after market item because I like everything from the same manufacturer. If Toyota would give these features as OPTIONS then it would be great.
If the rest of you think that it will cost too much, don't get the options. Just like if you feel you don't need the 6 CD changer or the body kit, don't get them. Won't make any difference to the standard price, so I don't know what your gripe is.
