tC & the XRS
#22
I am prety sure the corolla handle better than the matrix and the tC handle
better than both, because of the height of car, suspension, etc...
did not pay close attention between the difference of the suspension.

Looked up and compared the dimentions and weight of the corolla S and the Matrix XRS. The Matirx is longer, higher and porkier but has the benefit of a wider track. I wonder if the Corolla XRS will have that wider track. Even if it doesn't the Corolla XRS will be shorter, lower (by 3") and of course lighter (by 300 lbs). With it's lower lighter weight and independent back suspension I think the Corolla XRS will handle better. Just my 2 cents.

The XRS features a sport-tuned suspension that includes a front connecting rod damper developed by Yamaha. The damper is mounted between the shock towers to produce improved ride and handling without compromising NVH. In addition to the performance damper, the XRS features increased rate coil springs and shocks on all four wheels for improved roll and pitch, and a ride height that is lower by a full half-inch.
I reread where I had picked up that there was independant suspension all around. After reading it again I'm not sure now.
Edit: fix'n bold type

Yeah, my guess it still has the beam in the back. It would cost too much to make this trim have irs. My lil bro's corolla S handles pretty damn well, I can't image what stiffer spings, stuts, and larger wheeels can do

My corolla S handles okay with the 16's, way too much body roll though, but then again I'm comparing it to the matrix XRS, which handles great with the 17's. Now if the corolla xrs only came with 17's istead of 16's it will handle a lot better.

nvm i found out, uhmm dumb dealer ordered me the wrong parts.
"Hey I know we are talking about corolla XRS and not matrix
but i have a question. do any of you know if the TRD air filter
for celica/mr2 will work on matrix XRS?
cause i think the dumb dealer by my place ordered the wrong parts
for my car. that air filter does not fit.
thanks"

well, seeing as how the corolla is quite a bit lighter, the torque isn't as significant. i think the corolla out accelerates the tC in most tests....although only slightly. i'd have to recheck on that though. i don't know about the tC handling better in stock trim. i think the weight diff is 300 lbs. thats kind of alot. plus, the tC has more weight in the roof of the car (all glass roof). but, this is all speculated. who wants to drive a 20k corolla anyways right
