Was putting in the sub harness last night - one of the easiest cars to work with...

It takes 2 minutes to take out center console and glovebox without using any tools.




Rear bench just pulls out - no tools either...

Actually, it's a little easier than taking apart. I was thinking last night when I was doing all that - it was not about the subwoofer, it was about taking the thing apart - I just like doing it... I'm odd, I guess...

That looks like dynamat under the rear seat. Is that your doing or scions?

It's all stock. Most of the cars have this anti-rattle sound deadening stuff.

Cool , put up any more pics you take while taking the car apart, I love to take things apart. But I would be scared to take the tC apart myself, especially with out a manual or something.

I went the cheap route - had a leftover bazooka EL (8" tube) from my matrix, ordered a scion harness for bazooka from partznet (figured I'm too lazy to t-tap my matrix harness), and put the whole thing in last night. took about an hour with exporing the insides of the car, re-reading the manual, and foamtaping the whole deal to prevent rattles.

The sound from bazooka is much better than it was in the matrix - I guess smaller car and smaller trunk do the trick. If I need cargo space it would take me a total of 30 seconds to unclip the connector from the sub and unscrew it from the spare tire cover.

No problems, no tricks - these $40 harnesses are great - no guessing, no messing no problems with the inputs being reversed, quick and simple. So if you get a sub on ebay for $40-60, plus the harness - you get some decent bass for about $100. No, its not show quality bass, but more than enough if you are listening to music, not getting a bowel massage...

Don't worry, it's not in pain. It's happy, because it knows that it's owner is saving a poopload of cash by doing this kind of stuff himself... I'd rather pay the car off in a year than give all my money to the dealer, who would do exactly same thing - pull up a manual and start poking around.

One question that I've had about the sub, and this applies to your setup too...
Are the main speakers still getting all the bass information? So if you turn up the bass it effects the mains and the sub? Or is the sub not effected by changes to the eq settings on the head unit? When setting up your sub or the tC sub box, would it be best to set the bass flat and treble a little up, then adjust the gain on the sub?

Maybe you can answer some of that, if it makes sense :D . Thanks.

That's what I used. the harness routing is very similar, and it expains in detail how to take the center console apart to get to the radio.

Yes this car was very easy, I ran my sub wires the same way under the back seat. I found when u set the radio to Xb it sounds 100 times better, on the tC setting I was getting nice leveled out bass, but the regular speakers felt like they were overpowered by the subs on the Xb I was getting review shaking bass and loud clear sound from the regular speakers. IMO the stock speakers rock!~

Need to play with these "car specific" settings... Or just try to set the EQ the way I like it. Nah. Playing with tC/xA/xB is easier Is Feal/Hear/Neutral different for each "car setting"?

Nope, I missed em :oops:
Since the sub input is basically taken from rear speakers increasing the bass will also increase the thumping from the sub. So I'd do flat bass and up the treble a little. But you know - it's all personal prefernce and depends on type of music you listen to. I'm more of a rock/gothic metal kind of person, so all I needed is a little bit of extra depth.
