Things you found about the tC AFTER you bought it
#241
1. The door is heavy. It's nice to know that it'll take on side impacts well. (At least that's my hope). It would be nice if it had another place on the door to grab. In addition to being heavy and with no other place to hold onto while opening the door, I have to be really careful not to hit other people's doors.
2. It feels a lot heavier than I had imagined. Ditto on the driving a 'tank' reference.
3. My last car was a Matrix. Compared to it, there's not enough storage cubbies up front. There's not a sizable cubbie to put loose change.
4. The cup holders suck. I used to put my sunglasses in one of them. But with the "cut through" the sunglasses just slides back and forth and falls on it's side-- making them hard to reach for (I dont drive with them on by default).
5. The stock exhaust should sound a little deeper.

I didn't read all 13 pages, so I may repeat.
The cool thing I noticed a month after getting the car was the light on the temp control **** goes from blue to red.
The first time it rained, I realized the stock Bridgestone's suck. Not Scion's fault, but I thought I was going to lose it on an on ramp.
And the dreaded 126-127 MPH limiter. I had to try it just once

after i bought it i found out that there are no carb legal parts for the tc. can't mod ur engine unless u buy factory s/c sux. that is so hypocritical for a car that was meant to be tuned from the factory.

they never lied though. It's meant to be tuned, but nothing was said about keeping the warranty. I'm at 26500 and from day 1, had aftermarket parts. Screw the warranty if you can do things yourself.

Unless you live in Cali or you have yearly inspections (not to be confused with emissions), you should be ok. I'm in MD and have all bolt on parts on mine. We only do emissions here and cops swarm my area b/c about 35% of the county's police force lives in my city. Just don't make it too outragious and you should be ok.

We've had ours for about 1 1/2 months, and the only thing I've found that I didn't like is the transmission. The gears are so short that you run down the highway at 70 mph at over 3,000 RPM... wtf? We just drove to NY and back to NC, and I didn't even want to speed for fear of blowing-up! (<-- this is probably a good thing). Oh yeah, and the right sun visor started rattling when we were on some bumpy roads, but it was pretty rare and tolerable, and when the driver's seat is slid forward and goes back, it doesn't lock the left side of the track in until you sit in it.
I need to try this one too... in case I ever get tired of the BCP
