Hey guys, I was out getting something to drink with my friend and I jokingly hit the panic button on my key so the alarm would go off. The alarm went on and it flashed my headlights continuously and I suddenly rendered that it was bad for the HIDs if the alarm went off. So I wanted to know if theres any way to disable the headlights from flashing when the alarm goes off. I just want the parking lights to go on and off and not the actual low beam. Is there anyway i could do this.

 

or maybe swap to the high beam? I completely forgot about this! I was just talking about it too cause my neighbor has a "wig-wag" controller that hooks up to the low beams. We wanted the look of police cruisers, but I told him I couldnt do it with my hid's...

 

yea swapping it to the high beam would be a better idea. Anyone do this already?

I did the same thing. Hit my panic button with my HIDs in and like 10 minutes later the passenger side ballest went out.

 

damn no you got me thinking about.. but my alarm doesn't flash the light when the panic button is hit.. is just makes the most annoying sound in the world. but when i do deactivate my alarm it does flash the low beams once...

 

i dont have scion security, but my headlights flash as well, i didnt expect it, and then i realized i had HID's as well and i was like o crap an tried getting my key out of my pocket ASAP.

 

ok, I've found where the wire is located in the schematics, now its a matter of finding it on the integration relay in the car. Lots of wires here. My question is, what do you guys want to do? Eliminate the lowbeams turning on all together? ORRR switch it to the high beams (considerably more work)

UPDATE: Ok, So its a black wire coming from the integration relay. In the schematics I have it has the # 14 and its labeled "HRLY". This seems to be the wire that triggers the actual headlight relay to turn the headlamps on. I've found the general area of where its located, but pinpointing the exact wire is gonna be difficult. I think im going to disconnect the headlight relay, turn the panic on and use my volt meter on all the different black wires to see which one might be it...

Taking a break for a little bit though! Rescue Me is on!

 

crap! havent thought of this either, i think the best thing to do is just to deactivate the headlight from turning on altogether, i mean the sound of the alarm will atract enough attention anyway

Good thing my aftermarket alarm flashes sidemarkers and parking lights of the headlights when it goes off.

 

this basically cuts all power to low beam and redirects the trigger to the high beam when the car is turned off.

parts needed:
-wire tap
-male and female spade connectors
-1 relay (maybe 2)
-wires

on the relays connect:
85 to ignition harness (blue wire (+))
86 to to chassis GND

cut headlight (+) wire at fusebox ( i dont know which wire this is or if it has one. or you can cut the (+_ wire at the headlight socket. if right and left are separate you'll need both relays. if not, u can use one)
30 to fusebox side (+) lowbeam wire
87a to headlight socket side (+) lowbeam wire

OPTIONAL HIGH BEAM FLASH INSTEAD:
cut high beam (+) wire
87 to headlight socket side (+) high beam wire.
87 to rectifying diode 30A facing relay.
connect the other end of the diode to fusebox side (+) high beam wire.

i m in sf. i haven't done this myself since i didnt know the low beam flashes with the alarm until reading this thread. however, this procedure requires going under the dash and the steering column if you are lucky. if not, then u'll have to run a wire from the cabin to the engine bay to both low beam wires.

!!!or...........just rip that panic button outa its whole so you won't be able to use it! just remember where you park.
