Default For those of you worried about hail damage...

Last night I was watching Leno and counting the days until Hillary Duff turns 18. Then it started raining outside. It sounded really loud for just rain, so I went outside to check it out. Sure enough there was hail mixed in with it and it sounded horrible bouncing off the car. I stepped out from under the porch to find out how big it was and a couple of pieces nearly knocked me out. It was about quarter sized hail and was falling really fast and hard. Since it was too dark to check for damage, I went back inside and went to bed. This morning I scanned the car and the glass roof held up perfectly and I couldn't find a single dent anywhere on the car.

Just a heads up for those of you who might be curious as to how it holds up.

I wonder if the hail hitting the glass could set off the Scion Security alarm? It is supposed to have a glass sensor and the test is to tap it pretty hard on the sunroof...

My car was hailed on about 3 weeks ago and suffered no damage. You can bet I wasn't able to sleep until I could check for damage though!

I am super paranoid about hail. So much so, that I've been known to stay home from somewhere I wanted to go, and leave my car parked safely in the garage if it looks like we might get one of those evening thunderstorms that are common during the summer. Just the thought of hail ruining my car/paint is enough to make me half sick. Yeah, I know insurance will cove it, but I have a deductable and who wants all that hassle anyways.

Yes hail hitting the roof can set off the Scion securtiy alarm. I've seen it happen with my TC with marble sized hail.

What's so bad about hail??? If your car gets bombed by it, wouldn't your insurance cover it?

It hails in California but we don't get baseball size stuff. Plus last time I've seen hail was 7 years ago ?

It even hails here in Hawaii, along with an occasional tornado, tsunami, hurricane, earthquake - you name it. Good to hear though that a good sized hail storm won't bother a tc. My 06 should be coming in this week.

They wont pay for my $500 deductable.. so it is still a big deal. The one plus with the tC is most of the damage would be consumned by the no-deductable glass warranty considering the whole top is glass

what insurance do you have?? My jeep got hailed once... USAA replaced my windshield, and repainted the roof and hood. My deductable was $500, but since I am friends witha guy at the body shop, he basically did it for me for what USAA cut me a check for.

man i guess when the roof is open there's less support on the sides of the glass that's y it's ezier for it to shatter (o btw mine is not shattered, just makes me wondered a bit)

How is that any different from my insurance company? I have a $500 deductable on everything but glass, which has no deductable. So it will cost me $500 unless all that is damaged is the glass (unless I can work some deal with the shop.. but that is not really a factor of which insurance I carry). But anyway, I use AAA.

when you said "they wont pay for my $500 deduct.." I thought you meant you had some kind of exclusion for hail, lol!
