I tinted cause it looks good, and its pretty cheap for the effect you get. I also tinted so dark that you cant see the couple thousand dollar system I have in the back, it also keeps the car cool, and I have some friends that aren’t allowed to ride with people under 18, so they ride in the back

i'm so glad that i got tint. it's very noticable how cooler the car is when it's been parked out in the sun for a while. it doesn't smell like burnt cloth when you open the door. once inside, the AC works a lot faster, so you don't have to keep the fan on a high setting. also, since i got the roof tinted, the sun doesn't burn when i have the cover open. the last thing i wanted tint for is looks, but i'm complaining.

so i would highly suggest getting tint. iat least get a light one. it will still make a big difference.

personally, to me, it's worth the risk of a ticket. you can still see my interior if you're up next to my car. in southern california about half the cars have tint. and half of those have tint in the front. the only thing i won't do is tint the windshield. cops won't hesitate on that one.

I think tint makes the car look a lot smoother. It gives it a certain mystique. it also makes the car cooler with the combined use of windshield visors... privacy is a must. sometimes I keep my books,cd's or clothes in the back and wouldnt want anyone passing by to see whats in there. Next, it keeps the sun off your arms and such alot of the time... sometimes when Im driving with the windows down the sun is frying my arm, so I'll roll up my window and the problem is solved. Tint is one of the best upgrades Ive made to my car... and about your comment of it taking away from the wheels and such... I actually think it compliments the wheels because your eyes arent drawn as much into what is on the inside of the car, instead you are forced to recognize whats on the outside! All hail tint

btw, I still wear my sunglasses in the car! Even with my tinted windows!

tint can look very nice. The tc is getting tinted later today: 20% in the rear, 35% front. If I like it, I may get it for the 3 as well.

Default TINT

So I can understand if you live in a hot climate and you are trying to keep the interior of your car a few degrees cooler. When you get in your car and you crank the AC and open the moon roof a little , that few minutes less that you have to crank it is really worth it? The whole privacy thing is a little strange too, if you have something in your car that is expensive wouldn't you cover it up, tint or no tint? Ive seen a lot of cars broken into just because they HAVE tint. People that break into cars will probably see the cars with the darkest tints as the first targets because they will have the nicer stereos and more expensive things to hide. One big issue that a lot of people on this thread are complaining about is they are worried about the interior of their car fading, does this really happen? Does anyone have any pictures of this? I have never had any experience with this, but maybe it is a climate thing. Don't get me wrong Im not disrespecting anyone with tint, Im just trying to understand the reasoning behind it.

fading and leather cracking is more prone in hot, dry climates, and for those whom lack a garage

So if you have sunglasses on and you look out your side windows it is more tint than you needed in the first place. Ok, so some of you tint for privacy, why do you need privacy? What are you doing in you car that requires going beyond your state law and puts you at risk of getting a ticket? Why do you want to make it harder to see at night? I think you are more at risk of hitting someone because you couldn't see in your blind spot or that person who accidentally forgot to turn on their lights. Personally I think that tint takes away from the good looking wheels and body of the car because people are just looking at your tint. Tinting also is harder to clean, scratches more easily and only lasts 5 to 10 years and then it starts bubbling up. I would rather have a dark pair of sunglasses that can make it seem like you have tint all around you when you want it and not have to worry about the problems with tint. Post your opinion.
You are either naive or stupid. First of all, people don't tint so they can see better when its sunny outside. Most people tint for the look and second for the long-term protection it does to the interior of a car. Some people tint for privacy cause they don't want people checking out what system they have installed. I have no problem seeing at night with the tint. As far as bubbling up, it usually doesn't do that if you got a quality job. If it does, just get it tinted again free of charge. I wear sunglasses too. As far as the crap you said about tinting, I question your intelligence.

everone has their own opinion.. agree with most of you on the subjects.. guess everyone is things diff. I on the other hand love tint also.. like few...i love my titanium tint... reasons:

1. looks good
2. Keeps heat out off my car when i park it in the sun or driving..
3. from hurting my eyes, when i have some retard driving behind me @ night who cant seem to have the correct headlightsbulbs/fake HID/SUV headlights and also ppl who hi-beam me.. driving like a jacka**
4. if you ever had tint and suddenly dont have it.. you feel naked.. i notice when i bought my tc and didnt have tint for a week.. couldnt stand it.. ppl stare to much..
5. keep the interior from fading.. and over heating..

well said yes.. when you see the ppl with purple looking tint and bubbles its cuz its cheap quality work... titinum on the other hand neve fades or becomes purple and bubbles really depend where you get it installed... also if you wear sunglass's while in a tinted car makes it more dark = your wearing cheap sunglass's..
sunglass that makes everything darker to reduce from hurrting your eye's is crap.. sunglass that dosnt make everything dark.. just a little lighter.. and reduce glare is what your looking for...

Personally, i'd go with tint. I dont like when people look at me in my car, or try and get my attention to race them. I find that if they cant see my face, they'll leave me alone and let me do my thing without bothering me.

something to keep in my....you do realize that tints tend to attract thieves...a lot of people might think it blocks people from viewing what is inside...and that is true...but it makes the thieves all the more curious and gives them another reason to break in...well..that's what i heard from someone that heard it from a former inmate in prison. maybe it was in this forum or another one

I still like tint, but you have a point. . . and it's usually true. Secondly, vehicles with tinted windows are easier to break into. . . the tint film makes it easier to get all the glass out in one piece, and generally it makes less noise to break, as the glass doesn't just shatter and fall.

I say tint for safety amongst other things. Because if your wearing sunglasses and your airbags deploy, well....you get my point.

But on another note, I hear that tint attracts the thievs because it most likely means that youve got valuables in your car that you dont want anyone to see.

Just because you don't understand the pure logic I was using doesn't make me unintelligent, maybe you are the naive or stupid one. Also you can deny all of the negative aspects of tinting all that you want, that doesn't mean that they don't exist.

If you know anything about the glass on the tC, it already has UV and IR protection built in, the windshield has a green tint surface that blocks 100 percent of UV rays. The front door & back hatch glass provides a 90% UV-cut and the rear door & quarter window glass provide an 85% UV-cut. All the glass on the car reflects most if not all infrared heat rays to keep internal temperature down. Your interior will not be ruined.

People will look in your car at your "system" MORE, if you get your windows tinted. All they have to do is get closer to peer in. Your windows are not painted black are they?
The stories I have been reading on a lot of the posts on this forum, seem to show that scratches and bubbling up are a problem. Sure they may be under warranty, but what a hassle! You are going to risk a ticket just so people have a little bit harder time looking in your car!???? Sounds impractical and unnecessary to me.

If you are trying to defend tint, just say YOU think it looks good, because that is the only defense you have.
