A little bit less than a year ago, my brother and I were flying home from vacation. I was turning 16 in about a week, and was inheriting our '06 tC. I was interested in doing some upgrades, and we came to a consensus that, if the car was going to be modded, we would go all out.
That summer, we picked up some stuff:
Easy installations came first: brakes (with new lines), coilovers, exhaust. Oh, and we took out the back seats.
Then the roll bar arrived.
After this, we took a break, looking for the next direction. HIDs and Anzo tails were installed too, but no one cares about that sh*t.
I'll run a second post with more once my photos are done uploading.

Stage 2
Because the tC was a daily driver, we picked up another engine to work on. It was an from and Automatic '06 with about 36,000 miles on it. Its previous owner had totaled his car. Also, the hunt was on for a hoist and stand.
First, the engine was disassembled:
After disassembly, the head was taken to a local shop to be ported and flowed. The pistons we got were oversized, so they bore out the cylinders too. Notice the balance shafts above? Yeah, they're lost, somewhere. Good thing you don't need em!
Reassembly went nicely.
After that, the old engine was pulled, and the new one put in. Actually, before the engine was reinstalled, we pulled the tranny, looked inside (), and had a transmission shop install the LSD, which was problematic for them, somehow.
Finally, the car was done. We added fluids, charged the battery, and started the car.
Nothing happened.

Stage 3 and Beyond
Some troubleshooting had revealed that the engine had no compression. We didn't know why at the time, but the head will have to be pulled. My brother went off to college; I went back to school. The car wasn't touched until winter break in December.
It was cold and wintry, so the garage was updated:

I only had a week off, so we tried to pull the head without pulling the engine to save time, but, after everything was done, there was ONE bolt connecting the timing chain guide from the block to the head. We couldn't get it. The engine was partially pulled.
After we got the head off, it was obvious the valves were bent. The timing had been off slightly due to carelessness. When we had tried to start the car originally, the turn over caused the pistons to smash into the intake valves, bending all of them.
We speed ordered BC valves (+1mm), springs, and retainers. And a Gasket. New on the left, old on the right (last 2 pics).
Installation was painful, very very painful. No spring compressor would work. But after cutting one compressor in half and bolting it to another, we got something that sort of worked.
After resembling the car, we filled it up with fluids and charged the battery.
It started, but it ran rough and there was a clicking noise. The BC springs had messed with clearance, and we needed to order new lifters. After struggling for a month with Toyota, I turned to Ptuning for lifters and shims. They came painlessly.
Also, I got some fun stuff for christmas that I'll install later:
Currently, my car is whole and running. Passenger axle leaks fluid. First, second, and reverse grind loudly when engaged and in motion. I'm thinking the tranny shop messed up the LSD install. Third, fourth, and fifth gear, however, run beautifully.
