Default totaled my tc today

I was driving to my old school to get some transcripts for college today. While going around a curve in the rain I lost control and ran over the curb, hitting a telephone pole head on. All the airbags deployed and I walked out of the car with no more than a raging headache.

I want everyone to know that you are not invincible. I thought nothing like this would ever happen to me but I was wrong. I consider myself a very good driver with great defensive driving skills. However, the car is still a machine and especially in the rain, it does what it wants.

The concrete telephone pole fell over upon impact so my insurance company gets to pay florida power almost $6000 for a new one. I am 80% sure the car is done for. The entire front end is crumpled, although im not sure the block was injured. I couldnt tell the frame was bent but it is really close. My injen intake was split in half. My front right coilover is done for although I can salvage the others. My angel eyes are in a thousand pieces and the ballast are shattered. My greddy front strut bar looks unharmed, although it was hard to tell.

I got a ticket for careless driving for 115. I am hoping the car is totaled as I dont want to deal with it getting fixed and driving a car that has been in a major accident.

With all that being said I may have for sale soon: 3 tein basic coilovers, greddy bar, floor mats, CC short shifter, and my audio system.

I will try and post pics up later tonight.

Sorry to hear that, man. Glad to see that you're OK. And you're right... we're not invincible. I'm always careful in the rain... especially with these POStenzas.

Sucks for the car too, and being totalled certainly would be better.

I see a Classifieds post coming soon? Or are you going to wait and see what they do with the car? Are you going to get another tC if it's done for? Or eyes on something else?

How can they ticket you for careless driving? Did the police officer witness the accident? If not, its just an accident caused by bad weather and slippery conditions. Sorry to hear about your tC.

If you're involved in a single-vehicle accident, you are considered to be at fault due to careless driving, regardless of the conditions (barring an identifiable mechanical failure: brakes, blowout, etc.). If it was raining, he should have been driving slower. It may suck, but that's how the law works.

Take this story as a cautionary tale, folks... Ditch the Potenzas!!

Never knew that, thats pretty crappy...

Sorry to hear about the tC...How'd they end up deciding to make the ticket for 115? The officer see the accident?

Yeah the potenzas are awful in the slightest wet weather. When it rains here in Vegas, all the oil in the road rises to the top and it gets damn slippery. I've found out the hard way.

Yes I will start a classifieds thread when I find out if my parts are getting taken off because the car is totaled or being put on my repaired tc. If it is totaled I havnt decided if I want another tc. I think I want to get into something less expensive.....but not sure yet.

No the cop didnt see the accident...no one was around. The road is 25 mph and I was likey doing around 30-32. The cop said there was no way I could have lost control doing the speed limit...and he is really right, After i hit the pole i got out of the car and "smoke" poured out of the car from the airbags. I lady passing by stopped to help me and called the popo's.

edit: pics on the way

sorry to hear this dude. To bad for your loss.

a ticket for 115?? of course the police weren't there to witness the accident. So how did they know you were going that fast? Did they measure the skid and do some physics? just curious...

**EDIT: sorry was reading fast. Now i feel like an idiot: me getting burnt below**

actually the cop told me they have measured the skids there before at that curve. It sounded like bs until I was told the light pole 2 down from mine was struck a few days ago by someone going the opposite direction.

I think it's that the ticket COSTS $115. Not he was going 115mph.

Lol I think he would be dead and for sure his car would be totaled if it was 115mph.

That makes more sense, Even with airbags, I don't think most people would be around after a 115MPH hit with a pole.

Glad you're OK and that the airbags deployed properly. That's the kind of thing they are designed for although some people think they should go off in more situations. How hard was the airbag impact?

Not to kick you when you're down, but am I the only one that sees the irony in your screen name? hehe, j/k
