Sorry to hear about your misfortune; good to hear you walked away from it though. My Honda Civic got totalled in May due to someone else's idiotic driving, but at least that got me into my tC.

And now with everything I'm hearing about how bad the stock Potenzas are, I'm feeling the need to buy different tires. And I just dropped $800 on snow tires and winter rims. Guess I'll wait till spring to buy new summer tires. God, this new car business is expensive.

Dude you are so lucky that pole didn't decide to fall the other direction or you probably wouldn't be posting this thread. Good to hear you're ok.

There have been a lot of accidents in tC's with little injury, very good to know.

yes I was very lucky about the pole. I blacked out for a quick second at impact and then woke up to the pole timbering down. If it had come my way I likely wouldnt have been able to get out because the door wasnt opening easily from fender damage.

ironically, you know how it rained a couple days ago? I was just thinking to myself "man, i sure am glad it isnt going to rain any time soon, because my tire tread is crap. i can wait till november/december."

and so it rained. and i slid. but luckily SOME traction was kept, enough for the brakes to prevent another pole-hitting catastrophe.

seeing pictures of crashed tCs makes me nervous. glad to see you're okay though. and that the knee airbag really exists.

Wow, glad you're okay. Coulda been much worse. Had a friend hit a pole last winter, hit a black ice patch and hit a pole. No airbags. Can't speak or move the left half of his body (but getting better with rehab and he is expected to make a close to full recovery.)

If you're stripping parts, I'd be interested in your rear tail lights, when/if you have the time (just PM me)

Again, good to see you're still breathing.

not sure he was drifting, looks like he understeered when he slid into the pole, not fishtailed but hard to say from just pictures.

Assuming he was going the speed he said that he was (no other reason to believe otherwise) you think the tires were a cause of this accident?

If my tC comes with these tires, I'll be switching them pretty quickly...

a little off topic but...
what kind of place uses CONCRETE telephone poles?
i must really live in the boonies if ours are still wooden.
Cars have been known to go airborn and job those things in half

just drive slow for the first year, that's all they'll probably last anyhow... or just don't rotate them and use the rear's for full size spares if you can get some stock rims.

no I was not drifting. Driving a little over the limit but only 32 or so. It was alot wetter than the pictures show.

I found it today it is totaled. I havnt gotten a number on the value. I have to talk to the body shop manager in posession of the car now If I can have a day with it to strip everything salvgable. I think i can get 3 coilovers, greddy strut bar, stereo(headunit, amp, custom enclosure) and short shifter. I can only take what I put back stock so no I cant get anybody anything right away but I can track it to the salvage yard.

As far as a next car I cannot get a tC because my insurance which is already 320/mo will likey double even if my insurance company keeps me...which is unlikey. I need something cheap to keep insurance down but something I can autocross. Im thinking mr2 turbo t-bar.

get a datsun 510. no smog, good autocrosser and old, so insurance should be cheaper

Great News!

The insurance company valued my car(with only floormats) at 19,500!!! Thats 1000 more than I paid for it. So I should get everything back I have put into the car and possibly more.

The tow truck is on the way to my house to drop the car off so I can strip all the aftermarket stuff off of it. They are giving me the entire wwekend to rip everything off. Should have a classified ad on monday!!
