Default Trade In?

So basically I am one of those people who made the mistake of gettin an Auto, I was in a hurry to get a car because my old one died and needed one quick. Anyways cuttin to the chase...my car is only a little over 6 months old and just a lil over 5000 miles..

Would I be stupid in tradin my car in for a Manual? I still owe about 14000 on my car..kellyblue book estimates my current car a little over 20,000 for my 2007 and the new Manual cost base price around 17,620

I am looking for performance, should I just stick it out with my car and get nice I/H/E/P or talk to the dealership?

thoughts?

dealer isn't going to give you anywhere near KBB. Your credit has also been affected by your new car purchase, you probably aren't going to get the same terms for the new one because of that.

the manual is 800 less, but the 08 is like 500 more. in the end youll probably have the same payments, and start your loan from day one again.

Having same thoughts as you, credit hit bothers me though, but mines an 08, with 1000 miles on it.. voted no just the same. Pay the bastard off, then buy one to play in.

I would talk to the dealer, I have seen some very amazing stuff gone on. If you want a manual I would get it now, who knows what will be out in 3-5 years right.

go to the dealer and tell them your interested in getting the 08 model. see how much they'll give you for your 07 and DONT tell them how much you owe on it. I would think they would give around $17.5k but then again, its the dealer? Its worth a shot and you might be getting some money back for a DP? No need to run your credit or sign anything.

remember, DONT tell them what you owe. They dont need to know that for your trade in value. They just dont want to over pay you which is why they might ask. I work in the loan dept at our local credit union and alot of people want the newer model so i always tell them that.

Doesnt hurt to see where you are at. If you like you will do it.

Are you aware of all the changes for '08 models?

Yeah i know they changed a lot on the '08 which is ok, i cant find any new '07's out here. I know I am prob gonna lose some money, i dont mind because id rather put money for performance into that rather than my auto. All assuming the dealer gives me a decent deal for my '07

I am gonna talk to someone tommorow and see what they say

I am thinking if the dealer is going to jack me over I would be better off tryin to sell it myself. I got the TRD Exhaust/Ground Effects Kit/Rear Lip Spoiler installed by the dealer so I might be able to get more money from private party..

you could, but alot more work in finding someone who wants to pay what your asking. It could also take alot longer than of course it would with the dealer. I would still see how much they can give you on the trade in. Less work and the potential for more money?
