Default trd exhaust sounds rice?

when driven hard...it has a decent tone but at low speeds such as in parking lots and traffic....it has that ricey sound to it....i hate how the sound dies as soon as you lay off the gas...and then all of a sudden makes a sound as you gas a little....theres no variation...do you guys know what i mean? i like it when the exhaust kinda backfires a little....give it that "throttle" sound...like the srt4...but then thats probably cuz its turbo...any one else have any thoughts?

when people describe the sound as rice its when you hear the exhaust on throttle not idle. the trd exhaust at full throttle sounds great and has a great combination of bass and treble. unlike honda cars that all you hear is treble and no bass.

Yea the one I drove at Scion of Kearny Mesa was nice. The exhaust is throaty, not buzzy.

I've heard it too. The "rice" sound no one seems to like but everyone seems to have (?) is the angry-bees-trapped-in-a-can noise. The TRD doesn't sound at all like that.

thr TRD sounds throaty, although a bit hollow...but i think that's because it's a four cylinder... just can't get the same robustness like you do from an inline 6...

but that aside, it's not a fart can... can't tell you how much i laugh (sometimes out loud with my finger pointed ) when i see ANY car (not just civics... i've seen some nice civics to their defense) with a fart can exhaust go by.

Exactly, I couldn't think of the words to describe it. By chance do where would be a good place to see if they would put the exhaust on my car for me? It is a hell of a lot cheaper to buy it online and pay for install.

If you came and stayed in my town for awhile you would die with your finger stuck out and a look of laughter on your face. Every damn high school kid that has an interest in their car puts a bee hive on their car. That is all I ever hear driving up and down our main St. I never ever want to do that to a car.

the whole ____ed off weed whacker sound is evil.
someone posted a vid clip of the trd and IMO its the sweetest sounding exhaust ive ever heard on a 4 cylinder.

does anyone know if the trd has to be welded or if its bolt on? if it is bolt on then ill probably order one at a later time and just put it on myself.

I have the exhaust.. it is a bit ricey, but it's not too bad, especially at high speeds.

by the way.. this exhaust was not designed, developed, nor produced by TRD. It was made by another manufacturer (can't remember the name- someone I haven't heard much about).. and TRD just put their name on the tip and jacked up the price.

Borla i think... but i still don't think it sounds ricey... ricey to me is a high pitched exhaust note... the sound just induces laughter out of you. the TRD impressed me the first time i heard it... but then again, i have yet to hear it opened up on the highway.

Borla. You might not have heard of them, but they produce more exhausts than HKS, Greddy/Trust, Tanabe, etc. put together.

I have it on my xB, and I think it's too quiet.
I wouldn't call it ricey, but I do think it needs a few more dB's.

hmm... dont that buzzy, treble, bee like sound means that its not a good exhaust???

i hear alot of exhaust like that on civics, and most of them sound horrible. it doesnt even sound strong, like the exhaust is messed up....

i think that bees sound just means there exhaust sucks... correct me if im wrong...

usually used exhausts will most likely have that type of sound

my buddy got an Accord 2001 v6 w/ exhausts, 2 by BOMZ, it sound real nice, just a slight bee sound but barely....

well, i thought the tc TRD exhaust sounded really good. not loud at idle, and not outstandingly loud when you gas it. the one for the xB though, was really quiet. i actually didn't hear any difference in the car. only when i was standing behind the car. was kinda wierd.

Default TRD exhaust

I have it on my Silver Streak. I love it especially during idle cause the bass it produces is pretty pleasing to my ear. I love it when I start it up in my garage every morning going to work. Ricey? I don't know, heck, I just like it. Not sure how many hp it contributes, but the music it produces make me think my money well spent.

i'm just wondering how it'll sound once you combo it with the Supercharger. I'm guessing it'll be a bit more throaty and deep w/ it added on.

I love how the tC sounds stock, esp around 4-5K. And putting aftermarket muffler just for the sake of sound is a little childish. Once you have a full blown FI setup, then *maybe* you would want to open up a header, midpipe/cats, and only then a muffler. But that's just me - what do I know? ;)

Best 4-cylinder exhaust sound I've heard in recent memories.... Audit TT 1.8T at 225Hp!
