Turning off stock sub
#4
I'm an older fvcker than you and I love the bass - I have the Bazooka NOS looking tube, but would gladly do you a favor and take your annoying stock sub off your hands for free and run both in mine.

^ what he said, you could turn the base down on the head unit, press the left round **** in untill u see bass then turn it to the left until your happy. When my dad rides in my car I have to have bass at -1 lol.

I actually tried that,I had the Bass turned off on the head unit and the sub was still to much Bass.I have had some ___ KICKING car stereos and home stereos
Throughout my life and I KNOW SOUND quality.
A full range of sound does not require Deafening distorting Bass. Its kind of nice to hear a little treable midrange and a tweeter.Oh one other thing, being able to actually
hear the lyrics is something i kind of like
Maybe its becuase i like my music loud and CLEAR that subs dont work for me.

I'm sorry but from what you describe I dont think you really do know as much as you think about sound quality. It is very simple to have loud music with rich loud bass without distorting the bass and without muding up the lyrics while still having good highs and mid range. Maybe with the stock tc setup it is difficult but it is not impossible to achieve with better components. But by all means do what you want. It seems a waste to not use the sub at all but if that is what you want go for it. You should mess with the options on the deck and adjust the EQ try all the modes tc, xb, xa. And try pressing the ssp button and cycling through theose options I liked feel on the xa option when I had the stock deck. If you leave the bass low Im sure there is a way to crank the stock deck to the limit without distorting the bass and without mudding up the vocals. But anyway good luck man.

I believe kidtc has a 2008 with the factory 6" sub that apparently has no separate gain control, other than what the head unit provides (by setting the bass control to negative numbers).
I agree that the 2008 stock sub is set from the factory way too loud. It booms instead of thumps and generally sounds really crappy. On my '08, I've resorted to running the bass control at -3 most of the time, and -5 on certain CD's.
I guess I'll have to rip it all out and put in a real car audio system.
