Default TWM short shifter, do you like yours?

I just ordered and recieved a TWM shift **** for real cheap. I was a bit confused with the package though, because it only came with the ****, and not the whole short shift set up. I rechecked my order, and sure enough, it was just for the ****. So, I checked the TWM website to see the cost of the shifter set, and it is like 150 bucks! So, before I plank down that dough, anyone with the short shifter have any thoughts on me getting it or not getting it? My biggest concern would be it being too short, and my elbow banging into the armrest everytime I shift. Thanks all.

Depends how short your arms are. My elbow rests comfortably on the center console when I shift. But I guess I have long arms

Does anyone have a picture of the stock shifter and the new one. I want to see how easy it would be to modify the stock shifter. If all they did was move the center pivot point up then all you have to do like on an Intergra shifter is cut the bottom portion in half and weld in a 1" or so extension. Cheap and pretty easy to do.

Yup, that's all they did - moved the pivot point up about 3/4" to an inch, and shortened the top portion.

Sorry, no picture of the two shifters next to each other...

zoltiz, when I saw those pics... the first thing I said was "damn." That's a major change. The tC TWM short shifter is nice!

It's helluva change.

Oh, for those who hate the "bunched-up" look of the boot after the shifter install: here's my little silent DIY on how to "unbunch" the boot:

You've done it again Zoltiz Have you tried your TWM on both settings? Which one did you prefer?

Whatcha talkin' about, willis? The **** settings? Heard about it, but I love the stock ****, so it stays Maybe if I find the same-shape, same weight, but leather with chrome accent (or without it) - then I might give the stock one up. Or maybe not.

I think it's worth every penny. Adds a very solid feel aside from shortening the throw. Oh and I have no problems w/ my elbow hitting the center console.

you did a great job on that shifter boot zoltiz! I wanted the short shift, but i read a bunch of forums at scionworld.com and they all said they didn't care for it. Everyone here seems to like it... To tell you the truth, you guys seem a lot more informed so i think i'mma trust ya'll and get it.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I will be getting it soon, but have to pay off my TRD shocks/springs/swaybar first!

hey guys,

dont really know too much about short shifters.
what are the benefits?
any cons?

someone told me that it shortens the throw (allowing you to shift faster), usually lowers the height of the shaft, but usually has more resistance than the stock shifter. is this true?
