Default Upgrade Questions / Suggestions

So I've had a 2007 Scion tc for the past year, got it last December, and this year I haven't really had too much time to add things to it. Now that I am less busy with life I really wanna add some things to it. The first overhaul I wish to do is get the Premium Stereo system with the Ipod cable as well as XM radio installed. The dealership quoted me $500 for the stereo and $450 for the XM. For that price I am tempted to look for an in-dash navigation system instead. Does anyone have any recommendations for a navigation system in the tc that will fit and have the scion door close? I read that some navs don't allow for the scion door to close due to size. I am probably looking to spend no more than $1200 or so just as an FYI.

Next question I have is. Does anyone have installation instructions for how to change the amber lighting in the dash lights to blue lights? I'd rather my lights be blue in the interior than amber - I've seen it done on lots of tcs but how? Can anyone provide input and what parts I need, etc?

Lastly, is there anyone in the Northern Virginia / DC / MD area that can install for me the Fog Light kit and the Euro tail lights? I really don't want to dish out money to the dealership for installation on that and it seems easy enough that someone with a little bit of knowledge could do it. Can anyone help me out with that? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hope to hear from you guys.

Euro lights? Please god no.

For the stereo, they are bending you over on something that really isn't that great. Get an aftermarket unit, that has much better capacity for different media.

It was worth it. Unfortunately i opted for it without the gps making it about 100 bucks cheaper because i didn't feel i need it. But soon i will be buying the unit to hook it up. My buddy has one with the gps and it is very clean. The picture quality with the movies are excellent...actually the best i've seen on any 6.5" screen.
Here's a little pic of a paused screen of a movie (yes it's miami vice)

Here's a pic of the CD player screen...sorry for the glare, i wasn't taking a pic for the stereo...but for the gauges

I also have been looking at the Dual units on www.sonicelectronix.com

Interested in the Dual, Clarion, Panasonic, Jensen, Kenwood, and lastly Pioneer. I love Pioneer units but don't like the idea of having to insert a disc everytime I want to upload a GPS location.

Is there a specific name for the wire that is used, to enable a DVD to play while the car is in motion?

you can buy these dual dins (which are pretty good and well made) or go to mp3car.com and fabricate your own computer system for the car as i did

avic d2 or d3. you can probably find a d2 for really cheap now that the d3s have been out for a while. if you decide to get a double din almost any will fit with slight modification. probably just drill a couple holes to set it back a little more to allow the door to close.

make sure you get the dvd override so you can watch dvds without the parking brake on

as for the lighting, check the tech section. there are tons of great writeups to do exactly what you are talking about.
