Used TC's and Kelly Blue Book (Problem)

Used TC's and Kelly Blue Book (Problem)
I was just thinking that many of the factory options that you can get on a TC that raises your purchase price are NOT at all selectable as building a quote for your cars value on kbb.com (pretty much all a dealer will ever go by).
Many things are listed for you to check to get a good estimate on your TC but the same things as if you are looking at a Neon or any car. So alloy wheels means my OEM 18" are equal to stock 17" for example. Of course TRD exhaust and all the goodies just are not going to be there. So trade in day no matter how nice your tC came off the lot. It is a TC stick or auto and thats about it.
I love my car but mine is loaded with options that I will prob never get credit for as say options like leather, navigation etc... we have one model tC. not a DX, LX, Si if you get what I mean. Kinda sucks just wondered if anyone gave that a thought.
Would it matter for me? Not really...as my mods are at 6.7% in my loan vs. a credit card where they would have been but just a thought.
Seems like KBB needs a major revamp.

Well, for the time being, take it back to a Toyota/Scion/Lexus dealer for trade in. They should be able to recognize the extras.
Other than that, I already know what you mean. I built up my other car (truck) so much, I can never trade it in because of all that I have done. It's all considered "aftermarket" which only has street value at this time.

This is usually the case with any modified car. Sometimes, mods can even decrease the value of the car. I recall once I was trading in a car which had lowering springs on it. I had to put it back to stock in order for them to give me the full KBB value of the car.

Dealers don't go by KBB for the most part. Also, KBB is not going to overhaul themselves to just to accomodate all of Scion's accessories. I think KBB is wise to save themselves the headache and let the dealerships determine the value of the car on their own, treating the accessories for what they are. People are very rarely happy with their trade in value, especially if the car is heavily modified.
Everything that was said is correct so people should be wary of going too far if trading in their car is a concern. Obviously Scion is not going to say that to portect their best interest. But for those who want to enjoy their unique car, do it up. Why are you looking at trade-in values for your tC anyway?
