Default Using premium gas on the tC

Everyone claims that me using regular gas is hurting the car (tC), and also my acceleration is greatly affected. One of my friends said I should be using premium. Are there any truths to this? I think it's all bs.

No. No truths at all. All premium gas is going to do is cost more money. Premium gas is only beneficial in cars with higher compression or forced induction. The higher octane gas handles higher compression without detonating. Regular is all you need in the tC unless you go FI. It's not going increase acceleration or anything.

no benefits to premium gas. You'll just waste your money. Stick to 87.

Well, i have used 87 and 93 and in 93 i have better gas milage, but it's more expensive so i stick with 87 for now. Ones the price of gas drops down to $2 for 93 i'll be using it again.

Just use regular because its recamended, not to mention that premium does not acutlly create more power, its made to handle higher compression ratios, which our car is not made for. Premuim isn't cleaner either (another reason why ppl use it) it just has more hexaine mixed into the petrolium. you wille bewasting ur money with no added benifit

I did search. I got threads about all sorts of stuff... from someone getting arrested for cruising... to tC vs [car] threads.

I do believe it does help your engine though...prolonging life. Read the manual. Higher octane=less additives=less build up=less ping=less money=more time to enjoy your ride

Actually higher octane would mean more additives. No?

Using 93 octane in the tC and running your water faucet without being in the room = same thing

Please refer to this thread:https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...er=asc&start=0

And read this website: http://www.cars.com/carsapp/national...odaysgas1.tmpl

if you want more info, do a search using "octane" and you'll find a couple more threads.

so assuming you get around 30 mpg, that would equal less than a gallon of gas. here in ny, the difference between 87 and 91 is around 30 cents. I also assume that you fill up each time you get gas, which for me would be about 12 gallons once the red light comes on. the difference between getting 12 gallons of 87 and premium is $3.60, which is about 1 1/2 gallons of 87.

all in all, even though you get more mileage for filling up with premium, you dont get a better deal because you have to pay more for premium in the first place. get it?
