i hope in the car and start it and drive off. if not, you're just wasting gas. only time i let the car idle is when it his 100+ degrees outside and i want the a/c to cool the interior before getting in.

the original question was how long you warmed up the car before you started driving..

not how long you waited before you started driving...

there's a bit of a difference... so you never really answered how long you warmed up the car before you start driving...

obviously more than a few seconds if you're remote starting it.

About two minutes for me. The moment I get out of the shower, I toss on my boxers and go into the garage and fire her up. By the time I get done getting dressed she's usually good to go. I also do the same thing during winter so its the same length of time year around.

In the summer I just get in and drive, but I don't rev the engine very high until it hits normal operating temperature. In the winter I let it warm up for 5-10 minutes so I'm not cold

Toyota recommends no warm up time (its in the manual last I remember). However, for the first 5 minutes or so you should take it easy on it. Shift a little early, dont hammer it, etc. The car will warm up very slowly sitting idling and very quickly driving.

In the winter here, I do let my cars warm up longer (dont drive the tC much at all after the first snow anyways)... but our winters get a bit more harsh than others... when it is 10 below zero you just dont feel like sitting in a -10 car and driving

In the winter my car runs for about 5-10 minutes before I drive it. I turn it on with my remote start and wait till I know its warm then I go out and get in, my remote also tells me how warm it is in the car.

i usually dont have the patience to warm up my engine as im always running late as it! usually, i just keep the revs low in the beginning and soon enough(1-3mins of driving) my car will have warmed up to operating temperatures. i dont know if its just me but i do feel as if my car makes more power before its warmed up... as far as the torque aspect goes at least(never floored it cold started). possibly colder air to the engine? i dunno

in the extreme colds of winter, however, i usually let it idle from about 30 secs to a minute. enough time for me to pick a song, light a cigg, get my Stig face on ;)

I think unless you have high comp or lotsa boost, there's no reason to warm up the car. As it'll cause more emissions and waste gas, which is the reason that Toyota doesn't recommend it.

I spray some nos in my car, that usually warms it up. Then i hit vtak and im really warm. Then my carrier pigeons get some naplam and spray it on my oil. Then my tc can roast some marshmellows.
