what do we want the 2nd gen tc to have?
i was thinking that since there are sooooo many people complaining about the new xb and xd being so terribly wrong, maybe we tc owners should start a thread about what we want the 2nd gen tc to keep, to have and not to have. and maybe, just maybe, the good folks as scion will read and consider our opinions when they go the drawing board?
i'll get the ball rolling
1. stay a two door coupe with an all glass moon power moonroof
2. still come standard with really nice rims (i HATE the tc spec, and i think it is a detrimate to the tc's image)
3. needs a 6 speed manual
4. different color interior lights. (i'm fine with the orange but i know so many of you hate it and change it anyway)
5. maybe the old camry's v6 engine since the new 3.5 v6 would make it too expensive for its target market
6. all-wheel drive (yeah, that'll happen, but one can always hope)
7. deeper trunk
8. rear-wiper blade would be nice
9. bigger brakes
this way we might not end up like all the xb and xa owners in two years.

I like some of the things you have listed so I will try not to repeat
1. More user-friendly center console
2. Flatten the rear floor (like in the Honda Civic)
3. 2AZ is fine, but needs to keep up w/ the rest of the market in terms of power
4. The 3 seperate guages are nice, but I would like to see them better intergrated into the dash, like the Mazda3 or Nissan Maxima/Altima

The next-generation needs to retain it's ease of disassembly. I don't think installing an amp and speakers would be easier in any other car.
AWD would be optimal. I love AWD after driving my dad's Expedition in the snow and experiencing little to no understeer in turns that my tC would have eaten the curb. RWD would be second best; I cannot stand FWD. But, if the same platform is left in place, they should at least put an LSD in. Launching is pretty frustrating.
I would only want a 6 speed if our horses went up to 250+. 160 is not enough to turn a 6th gear with the ratios right now. So yeah, I want 250 horses.
I'd like a better brake feel from the minute I step in it. I don't think I should have to put in SS lines, tougher pads, etc. to get the feeling.
I want the design to remain classy, not too aggressive. The tailights of the 2008 HAVE to go. They're degrading. I need to see the cutoff of the 2008 headlights, but if they can't support HIDs and have a bad cutoff, they'll need to go too.
An option for an all metal roof should be available for the people who turn these cars into auto-X machines. Glass is heavy and flexes.

I would think the rear wiper would be very useful but it might take away for the asthetics. I would have a 6spd optional package or something. The biggest selling point on the current tC is the entire glass roof or just the whole package; What you get for the money.

Honestly the two things I have ever really complained of are the lack of rear windshield wiper. We need that. If a frikin eclipse can have one, we can too. Oh! Telescopint steering wheel. That is all I ask. Oh and seat memory on both sides. I think that covers all my needs. lol. Keep the sleek yet sporty styling and such.

I put up a poll last year for the wiper and while many people liked the idea, I got slammed for even mentioning it!
It's necessary!
And don't give me any "it'll ruin the lines' crap 'cause it's a Toyota, not a friggin' Ferrari!
And yes, you add all the crap above and it's a Lexus - in fact, just go out and buy an IS350 and be done with it.

If people just kept the back properly cleaned and sealed (with something like aquapel or rain-x), a wiper isn't necessary. Maybe in snow... but there are a lot of things that could make things easier in the snow that don't come standard on many vehicles.

I still dont see why people feel this "need" for a rear wiper. I have had one car with it.. our 4Runner. And it is useful only when I cover the truck with mud for the most part. I have never even thought I needed it on the tC.

See, I knew it.
I keep my glass clean and prepped and that DOES NO GOOD because I have lots of trees at my house and neighborhood, and the windows get messed when it rains, and they do on the freeways.
Plenty of cars have rear wipers and they aren't ruined because of it. Please.

anyway, i don't think all of the ideas listed would drive up the price a considerable amount. but there are some additions that the next tc will need to compete with its rivals like the civic si. it doesn't need a v6, but it needs a good engine to start with that has great tuning protential. while i know toyota doesn't profit from what tc owners do in the aftermarket, if it makes the car sell, then it is good for them period. it doesn't have to be a from the factory power house, but the potential must be there.
anyway, i think the roof has to stay as a panaramic glass sun roof because that is the tc number one trademark, the radio cover is #2. to take a quote from the xb crowd, if it didn't have the all glass roof, it wouldn't be a tc anymore.

No more on the wipers, please.
It's been done.
Get the dumb thread back on track.
The tC needs none of this stuff because 1/2 of the people here couldn't afford it (or their parents in 30% of the cases) and that's not the Scion charter.
There's plenty of expensive cars that have all the bells & whistles out there - get one or enjoy your tC.
Improvements are fine, overhauling is not in the cards.

I dont bash cause you like it. But saying it is needed is far from true IMO.
IF the tC had it.. I would probably find a way to remove it. Something I never use + something that makes the back of the car ugly = something I dont want on my car. Maybe as an option so those that wanted it could have it.

I think it's needed - I need it every time it rains here.
I am all for it as an option as I stated in my poll.
Won't matter - in 4 years, I get my Viper and I know that will have NO rear wiper!

this wasn't supposed to turn into an argument, but with so many people upset about what scion has done to "their xb" i figured that maybe scion should take some imput from their loyal buyers.
the tc is a great car, but no car is perfect and no car ever will be, but we should do what we can to keep it from getting worst and turning into something we don't want.
i mean, you know how there is a huge colt following for the 95-96 rear-wheel drive impala with its lt1 v8, and what did gm do to it? turn it into a front wheel drive pos with a crappy v6.
if the tc gets turned into some kinda bubble car that looks like a dodge neon avaliable with only an automatic and riding on 15's with wheel covers because we didn't do our part to express to toyota and scion what we love about our car, what should stay the same, but what changes we would be alright with because if it stayed the same, it would just be the same car.
