what do we want the 2nd gen tc to have?

Well if ^^^ happened, then our current tCs would become all the cooler, lol. I don't think Toyota will check this thread though ... BUT, since the tC is the only one that is not just rebadged, maybe it won't be as drastic as the xB2 and xD.

anyway, i think the roof has to stay as a panaramic glass sun roof because that is the tc number one trademark, the radio cover is #2. to take a quote from the xb crowd, if it didn't have the all glass roof, it wouldn't be a tc anymore.

my point is that we have to fight for what we love or lose what we hold dear. and i know that toyota probably won't read this, but they might. i mean we are their market, they should take what some of us say very closely.

question
Dear Sir, I have been thinking of getting a Toyota Altezza RS200, 6 speed manual.
Is it a good car to be doing serious modifications to it?
What is the weight of the car?
Is the engine,3S-GE responsive to tuning? I heard is one of the better 'potential' engines Toyota put out.
Will Toyota put out a VVTi-L version of the 3s-GE? Currently, there is no 2 litre VVTi-L engine to swap with.
I noticed the SW20 N.A MR2 with 3S-GE is tuned more aggressively than the RS200. Can I do a ECU swap or is the ECU settings in the RS200 great in it's own right?
The RS200 is based on the IS200 platform. What disadvantages does that bring? Is it un-benefical to place strut bars on the RS200, since the body/chassis may be rigid enough?
What are the advantages of VVTi compared to VTEC? What are the areas VVTi loses out to VTEC?
Will the VVTi-L have better tuning potential than VVTi?
What makes the 4A-GZE so special to be able to rev up to 12,000RPM?
Answer
The RS200 Altezza is an awesome car to do up I don't know if you are from new zealand or not but Toyota new zealand did up an altezza and fitted it with trd parts and they put in a blitz turbo and intercooler it's in the new issue of new zealand performance car magazine. The 3S-GE engine is a great engine for tuning and it is a good revvy engine and very powerful. I am not certain that they will put a VVTI-L version out but the RS200 altezza is the beams engine which stands for breakthrough engine with advanced management system it is developed by yamaha. The 3S-GE engine is tuned more aggressively because the MR2 also came in a turbo form know as the 3S-GTE as found in the 2 litre Toyota Caldina GTT you won't need to change the ecu it is very strong and only needs to be changed if you are modifying the engine with lots of horsepower. The IS200 is lexus with all the leather and it's slower than the altezza. You won't need strut bars as the chassis is strong but if you want to increse the stability for cornering you can put them in. VVTI is better than vtec coz it doesn't have to rev so much and it is better on petrol. VVTI would beat a vtec by miles VVTI is also more reliable than vtec. Toyotas are bulletproof and go forever. The VVTI would give better tuning than a VVTI-L and the 4A-GZE is special because it has a supercharger with a strong supercharger pulley. If you need anymore questions answered please feel free to ask. Kind regards Dean.
any opinions on this engine? sounds like a good one. now this is from some australians i think, and lets ignore what they say about vtech and stick to the lexus engine please!

i think the tyc tails on the new release tc, with the redded out turning signals, should be standard on the next gen tc. hid headlights would be nice too...but not necessarily projectors (the prius has non projector hid lights, they look good with clean cut off). but then again the standard tyc tails with the amber blinkers give more symmetry to the car (yellow up front, on the side mirrors and on the back) but those two things should not drive the price up all that much. and improve the body integrity...please, no more rattles or vibrations or squeaks.

Personally i dont think The car should come with new HLs or Tails, If people want HIDs ... put em in! Personally having a car like ours with things to upgrade is nice that way we all dont end up with the same car. Thats Just me. I do however believe with a HUGE passion that it should have a rear wiper, all hatch backs should. Period.

^^x2 i at least think that after you mute it on the console it should unmute when you turn it up on the wheel. I would also like for the passenger seat to go back to it's normal position after being moved forward for someone to get in the back--like the front seat. ( I like small ideas )

Keep the current lights the 05-07s. Make the 08s options. Fix the rattles. Try to put it on a little bit of a diet. Keep the car as customizeable as possible. I'm worried that with the way the xB and xD are coming with the touch screen and all sorts of other add ons individuality will go away which would end the whole idea of the brand.

i think that with 160 hp it could withstand a 6 speed tranny... i had an svt focus before i bought my tc and it only had 170 hp and like 145 ft. lbs... and i mean it was quick for what it was so i definitly say that a 6 speed is possible

2nd Gen TC? It should just transform into the Fuse concept with a turbo.
what ever happens it should come lowered an inch from the factory and possibly have a special suped up model. Better suspension, engine output etc..

I really like my tc as it is now, really only thing I would say is a memory passenger seat, and a little more power.
I don't know why anyone would want a rear wiper, I've driven cars with them and no matter what blade I put on it would always smear the glass, or make horrendous noise as I could only leave it on in a major down pour with out it rubbing dry glass. Its really easy to see out the back of the tc since the bumper blocks alot of the crap on the road from getting to the window.
