I searched autotrader today in hopes to find a Tc. Why the hell is this dealer (name will remained unmentioned) tring to sell a Tc with all most 9k miles on it for $18,395? Are they even aware of what these things go for new with no miles on it? Seems kinda fishy to me. Just thought I'd share my opinion on this.

 

sadly, I bet someone will buy it for that price without researching even the msrp for it. =[

I just bought mine off a dealer at Myrtle Beach (SC) this last saturday. With the extra equipment installed the price of my manual tC was 20K, but because was the exhibition car with almost 800 miles I paid just 18K for it. The dealer you mentioned in autotrader is selling way expensive!

 

what a scam trying to sell basically a demo for full msrp.. what a joke.. i hope someone finds out this dealership and posts it for everyone to know.. i remember that the dealer i went to, to get mine.. didn't want to sell the demo (3k miles) but they eventually did, someone begged to buy it.. there is something wrong there.. I waited..

 

I went to the dealership the other day to see what all the fuss was about. I asked the salesman why they were selling the car for so much and he said because of all the extra options...so I asked for a test drive. When I got back I asked what extra options it had. An aftermarket ____knob? (OPPS! pardon my french) And a homemade intake (WTF what a joke) I told the salesman that he could kiss my A$$ if they thought I was gonna pay that much for a Tc with that many miles on it. I eventually got kicked off the lot, but hopefully got my point across.

 

yeah mikal_r.. what a bunch of losers.. you should post what dealer it is.. so everyone in chicago can stay away from it!

Im sure someone will buy it. Especially since there is a long wait in some areas for tCs. Its kinda like ebay...people will overpay when they can get the same thing for less at an actual store. he..he some dumb peoples out there.

 

a couple of things here....

1. does the car have any add ons???
2. the tc stock is 0 in some areas, so if you really want one you pay for it...

it was the same for the xB's in august....
my co-worker bought one in jan(shipped from cali) $14,165, drove it for 7 months 12,000mi
sold it (stock form) at auction for 18,000....

its called supply and demand, and only because of scions pure pricing these cars aren't selling for $25,000

 

Unfortunately, there are more dealers than we know of pulling the same deal. A local dealer in the Baltimore area had a used Xb sitting on the lot. Went in with the boyfriend to take a gander (just for curiosity) and they had it stickered at 18k or so... 8k miles and I believe it one or two options installed. I understand that the aftermarket options will add to the price, but I'm not sure how dealers expect to sell when as we all know one can buy new for about 2k-3k less (not sure of the exact msrp on Xb). But as it was stated, that tC will most likely sell eventually because people are too damn impatient to do any research. BTW- I'm guessing that Xb did sell because it's no longer listed in used inventory. Sorry so long, but sometimes it just really baffles me how dumb people are..... :?

 

exactly right, Its the same thing Harley Davidson does, keeps the demand up if people have to try harder to get it, Besides it will be really good for us if we decide to sell our cars, look at civics you can find em with (example of one i almost bought before the tC) 2000-vtec lowered, wheels 40,000 miles turbo, blowoff valve, intercoller, short throw, racing clutch, body kit, 5 tv's custom paint and much else for $7k immaculate!
our cars will hold there value better if the supply is low! :D

 

horros, dealers selling cars for what people will pay for them... if people are dumb enough to pay over MSRP for something (or want something that badly), f**k 'em, its their fault for being stupid/lazy. :?

 

also forgot to mention that some people can't get loans for new cars... if its used it makes getting a loan easier...

 

Depending on the price, its a lot harder to get financed on a used car than a new car because lenders have more to lose on a used car than a new one if you default on the payments

 

i'm not sure why everyone is so offended by that car for sale. you don't have to buy it, it's not like anyone is being forced too. besides, they own the car they can do whatever they want with it. if you were a business you would probably do the same thing. you don't give yourself an opportunity to make money if you don't ask for it.

on the flipside if they had it for what you might consider a reasonable price people would still come in and want even more off the price because its a used car.

 

I was told by my dealer at Scion that it is AGAINST Scion Policy to sell the demo cars. They cannot sell it (at least yet). Hope Scion picks up on this.

i don't terrible appreciate your response, as i didn't really say anything advocating what said dealership was doing. your assumption about me and my response because of my current job is about as mature as me assuming that you are a close minded person who spouts out the same generic car salesman slander whenver one of them has something to say.

whether or not you think the amount is ridiculous is besides the point. i merely stated that they own the car and can do whatever they want with it. i've had some customers wanting some pretty ridiculous figures for their trade ins before. you might or might not get what you ask/want for it, the point is you'll never get it if you don't ask first. a business does not stay in business without making money. do have any idea how much money companies like best buy make selling tvs or car alarms? now THAT'S ridiculous.

its funny that they brought about this sales process to appease a younger generation with a relatively trouble free experience and a good majority still want to assume that we're doing it the old way. anyways this topic has been beaten to death there's no point in stirring anything else up.
