Dude, this is a Toyota board. Don't say you didn't see this coming. You'd get the same response if you posted about the Nissan Spec V or the SRT-4 or any other car that competes in the sport compact market.

Focaljet, VWVortex, MSprotege.com......any of the others aren't much different.

Everyone here is pumped up about Scion. Take it all with a grain of salt.

Well I'm on Focus boards, and while there are some people who are very "Ford-centric" there are lots more who are CAR enthusiasts, not BRAND enthusiasts, and can appreciate all kinds of cars. Believe it or not most cars get a fair shake from people. This whole "my brand is better than your brand" ____ is juvenile.

I you are tired of all the Ford bashing then GO TO A FORD FORUM!!!!

Remember where you are at "SCION LIFE" where Scion is our life! Jeez would you like some cheese with your whine!
Hey jackass, is it possible for someone to like more than one brand of car in your little world? If I don't have a Scion I can't be here? Does anyone here know how to read? I said earlier that I had considered trading the SVT and getting a tC. I like the tC, I don't have any problem with the car, as far as I can tell it seems to be just the owners that suck. I can read these forums and post here if I want to, as long as I follow the rules. And FYI I *am* on several Focus forums, thank you very much.
Is calling another poster a jacka** allowed, i dont think it should be...

Oh looking for reasons to ban me because I think differently than you? From what he posted, my first impression is that he is indeed a jackass. What are you people, 12? Jackass hurts your feelings? Your censor software won't let you say s*h*i*t because mommy and daddy might read it? I feel like I'm in another parallel dimension here where reality is distorted.

Actually I only pointed it out because you said you followed the rules. Now you are just being rude and defensive and your only turning people against yourself. People dont come here to get called a jacka**. So maybe you dont belong here, instead of getting all huffy about it, why not just leave? Your only digging deeper now...

And it only took how many stupid moronic posts about how Ford sucked before I started getting rude? If I were trolling I would have been REAL RUDE, REAL FAST. I would have gone straight to the Scion-bashing and schoolyard crap - like, I might add, some members of your forum did to the Focus on our forum a few weeks ago. He came back here and bragged about it thinking it was hilarious to dump all over the Focus and watch what happened. I don't think too many people here seem to be receptive to the idea of liking something (or at least not HATING something) that wasn't made by Toyota, so yeah, I guess I'm getting a little bit rude. You would too if you had a car that you knew was a good car but got such little appreciation that everyone thought it was funny to make it the butt of jokes.

Yeah anyway the hatch models are made in the Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico, the same plant that built the Escort. The sedans and wagons are built in the U.S. - however Ford plans to start building all models in the U.S. at some point. I'm sure to some of you, the fact that the Focus is made in Mexico is even WORSE than being made in the U.S. but whaddaya gonna do. All kinds of things you use every day are made in Mexico whether anyone realizes it or not. Are you going to stop using your appliances? Because they're filled with parts made in Mexico, unless you're fortunate enough to afford high-end European or custom-made brands.

Also I do recall someone taking a jab at the Ford GT. Yeah it's had a couple issues, is that a surprise? It's a totally new design, built from the ground up, and a very complex car. I challenge you to point to a car company that has done the same (brand new car, and a supercar at that, capable of sustained 205mph speeds) that has not had ANY problems. Show me a supercar that went into production and sold to the public with not ONE problem at ALL and I will show you a liar, because that's never happened. And as far as actually being able to drive the car and use it on a regular basis, ask anyone who's owned a Ferrari how often they drove their car and how often it sat in a specialist garage waiting for repair or a multi-thousand dollar tune-up. Not to mention even recent model Ferrari cars still have some crude build quality to them.

Why does everyone hold Ford to some impossible standard? It's Ford for crap's sake, Ford has never been the company known for selling the absolute highest quality products - they sell good quality products at prices that make them competitive. Like I said earlier there is this ridiculous double standard where it's okay to have problems with your Toyota/Scion and it's still a good car (even if you paid much more for that car than you would have for a domestic), but if a Ford has a few problems, look out! Make way for the rolling crap heap that might explode into flames and fall off its wheels at any moment.

I think its the fact that toyota's problems dont involve cars exploding and dangerous things like that. You like ford, thats fine. Thats your own opinion, I dont like ford, thats my opinion. This is getting rediculous.

Talk about ridiculous, exploding cars?? I was being sarcastic in that last sentence where I said it "might explode into flames" in case you didn't catch that. The last Ford known to "explode" would of course be the infamous Pinto. And that wasn't really an explosion, it was the possibility of fire due to a ruptured gas tank in a rear-end accident. That crash test footage makes it look like an explosion but it's not.

I'll tell you what's ridiculous, it's how closed-minded some of you seem to be. This isn't as simple as "I like Ford, you like Toyota" which seems to be the problem in trying to communicate here. I like all KINDS of cars, Toyota included (I mean I owned one, gimme a break!) and of course I happen to like the car I own now, so when I see it getting bashed I'm going to say something in it's defense. If it were a Chrysler I'd do the same, if it were a Mazda I'd do the same; I am not, as some of you seem to think, some diehard Ford fan.

Damn, this all exploded real fast....

Well, I for one happen to like many other cars.. and do not buy solely by brand.. I just have my feelings based on my experiences with fords. My opinion obviously. I actually was always partial to chevy products until a few years back. I dont like as much of what they are doing now, and I liked the tC and toyotas engineering so I bought one. I also own a saturn. So it has nothing to do with American vs Japanese vs Brand Name vs anything for me, I just base my opinion off of my experiences, which is all I can base it off of. So sorry if I offended anyone. I certainly did not expect this discussion to turn into war!

And you ford guys shouldnt feel unwelcome here over a disagreement in one thread. There are actually some very informative threads on here at times and some very knowledgeable people. But as is the case on most online forums, there are arguments, stupid arguments, _______s etc as well, so you have to take the good with the bad I guess.... I am having a beer, so I suggest you all do the same (if you are old enough of course ). My other two cents....

You are right. The oil just turns to sludge and your engine craps out even with regular oil changes. Every car company has problems with something.

engifineer, thanks for the comments. That's more along the lines of what I was hoping to get out of people here. I'm not trying to offend anyone either (except maybe for those who deserve some criticism for making blanket statements and inaccurate or ignorant comments), I'm just here to share what I know about the Focus and see what I can learn about the Scion. This appears to be a different kind of community than what I'm used to, I can say that.

I don't want to make nothing but enemies here, but at the same time I'm not the type of person to let some of the things that have been said go without at least in some way replying to it.
