another thing is that the rsx and rsx-s look exactly the same on the outside except the badging for all i know he could have been one of those "fast and the furious kids" who bought the rsx-s badges, but i know for a fact my friends car was a base line rsx.

now he has a 2004 focus svt european edition 6spd, and i dont think my tC will beat that!
it definitly out corners my car and even outcorners my other friends 350Z!
for a ford its bad azz recaro seats and h.i.d.s were stock!

Oh, the truck also has a k+n air filter and a fresh tune-up. I think if the guy driving the nissan had a good amount of experience, he'll smoke the xb.

Oh, almost forgot..the nissan is a 2-wheel drive, four cylinder with road huggers. The xb has the factory tires.
I would put my money on the Nissan as well grnxb. Personally, with good experience even an old POS liek that can kill the oh so sporty xB. ;)

What I don't understand is why we're having this discussion. It's like a sane person would compare the two when shopping for a car.

Base INVOICE on a RSX Type S is $22,058.00. That's $5593.00 over the MSRP for a tC with manual transmission.

What could you do with a tC with $5600.00? Could you beat a Type S? I think so.

You shouldn't think like that though, since then I could say I could go out and buy a base civic for $12k, and then put $4.5k into it and say I could beat a stock tC.

Unfortunately, you'd still be driving a base Civic and those cars are BUTT!

J/K. But I don't buy your thinking.

What would you do to a Civic with 4500 that would make me want it over a tC?

Remember, I want a quick, quiet, roomy ride with a panoramic moonroof, reclining rear seats and 4-Wheel Discs with ABS.

I agree. Get comparable equipment on the Civic and then see how much money you have left to spend. We are looking at comparable equipment for the most part with the RSX.

And oh yeah, you want a panoramic sunroof? I don't know any other car besides the G6 or whatever it is that has a glass roof. Personally, I think the glass roof is cool and all, but we didn't buy our cars because it was fast. I love my tC, but it's far from what I'd even call *quick*. Just remember it's an economy car.

the svt focus is a joke. ford should have made the escort zx2 a svt car. before i get flamed for that, let me say this.....my escort zx2 pulls 14.9 on my gtechpro. now i know its not real times but i get 14.9 consistant give or take a sec. thats with cai, udp, odp, headers, cat back, and cam gear and bored TB. roughly $1500 worth of parts and i hang with stock WRX's.

If that was suppose to be a smart ___ comment it was a good one.

I say that would be a close race. No lie, I would probably put money on the Nissan. KA motors kick ___ no matter what milage. That truck has way more power/torque than the xB.

Just to let you know a driver can change any race. K20 motors need to be revved in order to make power. What if the driver of the Type-S shifted at 6500rpms through every gear. Doing that would give the tC great advantage.

Its all in the launch. If the tC gets a good enough launch on the RSX-S it would stay in front for at least 1st and 2nd gear.
Also, Ive seen some great times posted by other tC owners. 15.2 is the best. 14.9 and a 15.2 is not that far off. Again, better driving can get it closer.

A tC has more lower end torque, so you might, MIGHT, be able to stay in front of him until you reach the top of 2nd gear, then you're smoked.

the newer rsx type s has 143 lbs of tq against a tc's 160. as stated, with the right start, the tc could get up off the line to maybe 3rd, but then the rsx's 210 hp would dominate. but the best point to this post is at an invoice price of around 21,000 for the rsx-s , if you had a tc and put money into it enough to be equal to the rsx, the tc would probably win. a friend of mine has an rsx-s, he is a good driver, i beat him until 3rd, period. its just more tq vs more hp

I think people need to be more specific when making these vs. topics. Stock for stock with two chimpanzees at the wheel, RSX type S will dominate a tC.

i think in short runs...tC would get a better start and hopefully win, since the tC has better hp and torque in lower rpm...but in long drags....RSX type-S will burn tC...

RSX Baseline would be a close race for the tC.

Don't even bother thinking about Type-S... MY05 or not.

Why do you guys complain about people comparing cars in straightline? If we all really cared so damn much about how our cars would do in a straight line we would all be buying SRT-4s and Mustangs.

I really hate it when people start going "With 5k I can make my car beat any car worth 5k more!"

Any civic with 30k in modifications can beat corvettes... Big deal. You're still a damn civic.

Keep in mind, just like the downfall of the 7gen Celica GT-S, the lift or in this case, VTEC can be tricky to keep the revs in, a small mistake will get that 6.2 0-60 noticeably slower.
