Default Why buy a stubby antenna, when you can make your own.

I took the stock antenna, chopped off the center mast and used a high strength epoxy to glue the stub back to lower mast.

Or you could have just removed the mast and kept the lower mast as is without the stub.

Reception wasn't effected at all, driving up to the mountains, reception was the same as the normal length mast.

It has been from Portland to Lake Tahoe and has held up great.

Looks just as good as any other stubby antenna.

The TC's antenna is just your typical Fuba found on VWs, Fords, Mazdas everywhere.

You can buy one for $10. So if you destroy it, who cares. The only modification you make is to the mast that unscrews from the car. 2 snips with a wire cutter and some epoxy or JB Weld.

It still works without a mast, but only if you are in a area with good FM. Once you start heading out of the city, reception dies.

Might have to try this. Not good with the whole do-it-yourself thing. Can someone possibly post some "how to"?

YOU'RE not YOUR. YOUR is possessive while YOU'RE is saying "YOU ARE."

How's it feel?

sheep was referring to you, or at least I'd assume because when I corrected you, I made no grammatical mistakes.

who really cares about mistakes in a forum, the only people that should be careful are the people that are trying to sell stuff
