Default Why vary engine RPM?

I know somethings about cars and how they run, but I don't understand any at why you should vary the engine's RPM speed at first breaking it in...

Can anyone explain this in lamens terms please?

Because while the engine is running the loads on the parts that touch vary depending on the speed. The higher the RPM the greater the load. If it was an engine that ran at a constant RPM all the time like say a lawn mower or generator for the most part it would not be so critical. By varying the RPM it evens out the wear patterns. correct me if I'm wrong

YES, exactly, just keep it under 4,000 RPMs until 1,000 miles. Then have the first oil change done to remove the metal shaving from the break-in. :o
