Yeah, I don't know anyone around here who doesn't recommend Rain-X. Clean the windshield really good before you put it on, and it should last longer. Also, I've found windshield wiper fluid made by Rain-X that has Rain-X in it already at WalMart before, although I haven't seen it there lately. Maybe try Autozone, O'Reilly, etc. It's great stuff. I'm -supposedly- taking delivery of my tC next week, and I plan on buying some Rain-X this weekend so I can put it on as soon as I get home.

the drivers side is a 26" and the passenger is a 16" (measuring both stock and aftermarket, a 26" actually measures 25.5" and the 16" measures 15.5".. so they rounded up on that number)

Default Rain-X in a gallon

Advance Auto here on East Coast has Rain-X washer fluid in a gallon, (had to buy it as they were out of the cheap stuff and I was dry) That stuff is about 3.50 a gallon, but is CLEARLY better than the $1.29 stuff. I'm convinced, If it weren't PINK it would be perfect! Put some in the Durango and it stopped the wipers from squeeling. That's the ticket I tell ya!

I used to have this same problem with a camry. I wonder if it's a toyota problem in general?

my parent's sienna does the same thing.. new wipers eliminated the problem for me on the tC.. i think they save money on lower-cost wipers that don't last so long..

Default wiper woes

New wipers help for a very short time. But who wants to change wipers every 2 months. I've had certain vehicles that were troublesome. The Durango is the worst when it comes to squelling wipers. I think it has to do with the pressure on the window and the large blades. Things that I have tried, alcohol wiped on the blade - NO!; Armour-All on the blades - streaks window; silicone blades - YES, but hard to find; Rain-X on windshield, short term help; Rain-X washer fluid - YES, this is the best choice IMHO.

i put klasse all in one polish on the glass and it beads water better than rain-x, which i have always used with no problems. now to see how long it will last.

I went in for my 5k oil change a few days back. I mentioned something about my wipers sucking on a previous trip, and apparently they ordered a new set for me. They installed the brand new wipers for me, no charge, and refilled my windsheild washer fluid resivoir without mentioning it to me. I've had no problems since.

Bad visibility is a major liablility on a brand new car. If you mention it to your dealership, they'll probably do the same for you. My guess is there was some grease on the wipers from shipping the car.

As far as replacement wipers, my money would be on PIAA's. They're not much more than BOSCH wiper blades, and they were great on my old Stratus when I was up in San Jose for a couple of months. PIAA's are silicone, and yes, they are hard to find--but you can order them by size online.

Wow man, I'm not sure what rain-X did to you, but I've used
rain-x for the past several years on both my SAABs and
my Porsche. Just to give you an idea, when the SAAB was
killed two weeks back (I was hit head on by an idiot) I
had over 330,000 miles on the car.

Rain-X coats the windshield and forces the water to bead
up, which is forced to roll off the windshield when you are
in motion. It also helps the wiper blades slide across the
coated windshield.

Maybe you had some odd blades that were crap. I can't
imagine everyone else here (and dozens of people in
the Porsche club) having no issues with Rain-X and hiding it! LOL

As for the Rain-X wiper fluid...I have mixed feelings about
that. I've used it in my latest Porsche for about two years
now, I get the orange stuff that also melts snow. The issue
with the wiper fluid is that if it drips from the spray nozzle on
your paint, it will build up a streaky coating on your paint
that would need to be buffed out. I only had this problem
on the Porsche because the spray nozzles were drippy,
but it sure made a mess!

I do all the windows on all my cars with Rain-X, and like
you see in the stupid commercials, you can almost drive
without wipers it works so well!

Ok, 'nuff ranting from me.

Yah that's what i'm thinking. But now i'm having second thoughts. Maybe get the PIAA Silcone wipers rather than the Valeo.

BUT the Valeo has more "contact points"

I dont know if that actually makes a difference. HmMmM The Choices.

4 months and the klasse still beads on the windshield like a charm! if your car experiences mass quantities of industrial fallout you may have to reapply sooner but the 6 month claim seems to be true so far

i don't have any trouble with my visibility in the rain. the wipers are fine. i rainxed all my glass, including my sunroof, moonroof, windows, windshields, and mirrors. it's awesome.
i did the moonroof glass because when it snows and gets icy, the stuff just slides off, inside of sticking and making you have to chip away at it
