Default WOW...replaced in cabin air filter today. LOOK!!

If you arent running an in cabin air filter, this should you make consider it. This is what mine looked like after only 2-3 months and I dont even live in a dusty area!! The filter cost $8 at my local hardware store and I just cut it to fit the filter tray in the car. I'll get a total of 3 from the panel.

Tried it. Turned air conditioner performance on 100º+ days from "not great" to "absolutely horrible". The tC's blower is weaksauce. The A/C in my wife's Corolla will freeze your face off, and she has a factory cabin air filter.

We got boned on A/C performance.

Hmmm.maybe youre one for the TSB. Mine is not affected by the filter at all. In fact I couldnt tell a difference with or without the filter. Then again its probably a good 20-25 degrees hotter in your neck of the woods. Ill get a good test next month when I make my next Vegas trip.

real simple. open glove box, squeeze both side until it come out even more. look inside and you'll see the empty bracket for the filter.

haha it's a shame the K&N is so dense, or I'd chop up the old one from my Jetta and use that.

Dr. Isotope,

I would stay on your dealer. My AC is ice cold, and adding the filter made zero difference in its performance. There is a TSB to raise the amount of refrigerant in the system, not sure about the blower system. Compared to other cars I ride in or drive, it is on par, even when I am in OK on 100 degree days.

I'm not in the numbers for the TSB-- my VIN is a few thousand higher. I'm going to have to take it in anyway-- on a 100º day, cool down can take 10 minutes.

If you don't know where it is means that you don't have a filter there - tC does not come from the factory with it, just an empty tray.

Factory service manual mentions that adding a filter will interfere with the a/c system, but I still have it It gets filthy pretty quick so it helps with dust, but does seem to make my a/c cool the car slower.

Mine is a few k higher than the VIN on the TSB too, but it's also too weak (well... not cold enough - the air movement is fine). When I take it in for the next oil change, I'm going to have them check it.

Mine too. I took it in they "said" it tested OK (40 degrees at idle). I told them I'll bring it back next time it's over 100 outside and have them check it again.

It's about a quarter of the size of the standard household furnace filter. There is really no point in cutting it before you get it because the filter fits in a little sled, so what you want to do is swing the glovebox down, pull out the little sled, then take it to wherever you're cutting your filter and make the refill for it then put it back in.

the 3m furnance filter is so cheap you really don't need to use washable ones. and as you can see it gets real nasty and probably best to just throw it away and replace it every few months.
