*New shocks, coilovers or tires?*
Im currently running Hotchkis Springs with TRD Shocks and have had them for about a year now, ive been on hotchkis springs for 2.5yrs and i love the stance. The ride is nice, an upgrade from stock shocks but i think im still looking for more comfort. Now i know tires make a big difference in a smooth ride and i know i wont get it running 225-40-18 tires because its such a low profile tire. I dont know if i can run a thicker tire all around on hotchkis springs or if i do change the suspension what size it will be to not rub, thinking of 225-45-18 but dont know if it will make any difference? ill have to wait untill i need a new set because i dont want to spend another $5-600 unless needed.
The roads around here are not the best and im sure everyone else has the same roads because they all suck. I would like something to absorb more of the bumps and cracks in the roads to get a slightly smoother ride. Im not too sure on what will give me more of that, coilovers, new shocks (Koni), tires or both together.
I have been wanting to get some lighter wheels because the optional 18" enkei EMX super 7's i have they feel a bit heavy at times, i dont know thier exact weight and it could possible save some gas because i dont get that great gas mileage as ive seen others on here. Ive been thinking of going back to 17's with a bit thicker tire than stock along with getting the OEM lip kit and of course new suspension to top it off. Then again i dont think the 17's with a thicker tire would do any justice if i have 18's an a thinner tire? This is my DD so i dont use it for anything else but i want to feel comfortable in my ride.
im not too sure on what coilovers will give me this but i know it wont be cheap. i dont plan on doing this within the weeks because im going to New York on Thurdsay so some money is going there. im thinking sometime by next spring or unless i win a good chunk of change at BINGO then it can pay for my suspension.
Cliffs
want a comfy ride
thinking of thicker tires
going to NY this week to see my favorite team in the whole world (Yankees)
willing to gamble with the old ladies and their trolls at BINGO
need some help, paypal me your money for my suspension fund!
Thanks!

yank try a set of coilovers with adjustable dampening? i have the HKS coilovers now and i have it set to the softest and the ride is great, and i have 18x7.5 with 225/40 tires also and i love it much better then when i had Hotchkis.

I have to be honest. I really really really like the ride on my basics, it's not harsh at all. Everyone I've driven around so far has complemented the ride. If I could pick and choose I'd go with HKS like dave but I can't complain for ~600 bucks.

agh...lucky you got yours so cheap...price got jacked up on basics. But to the OP if you want comfort, HKS/H&R, however if you find stiff comfortable, then tein works . O and yes on thicker tires for comfort.
