i would go h-techs it's like 1.9 in the front and 1.5 in the rear.......manufacturer says it's only a one inch drop, thats not the case. I am running stock struts and it feels great not harsh gives the car an aggresive look.

ok guys, calm down, the stock shocks are built pretty good. I've been running a drop of maybe like 3 or 4 inches with celica coilovers for months now, any car that low is going to have some bounce but it's not that bad, nothing like the civics and crx's i've rode in. I had s. techs on my car for a few months before i threw on my celica coilovers. the ride is still fairly smooth and but the handling improvement makes up for any harsh ride problems you may encounter. I know my shocks are going to go out a whole lot faster than with stock or maybe even less of a drop but for this look and the handling, i'm willing to just go for it

just to let you know how low my car sits, there is no gap between tire and wheel well, the top of the tire actually sits about 3/4 of an inch above the wheel well lip. I.E.- if i had the factory body kit i would be scraping just driving around

i have stechs...about 5000K on my car. after the springs settled..i've scraped a few times but only on big inclines. and i'm on stock shocks...and yes they are pretty good shocks..people keep talkin about stock shocks blowing fast, but they should last a good 2 to 3 years unless u drive ur car hard like every single day..haha

are the s-tech a different spring rate than the h-techs or is it just the drop that is different with the same stiffness? I thought they were stiffer?

Get Goldlines......Randode, a scionlife member here with great reputation, sells them for 175.00 and will then install for 150.00. He did mine, and the 2 inch drop looks great. I have no wheel gap, as a matter of fact, my top of my back tire is "INSIDE" my wheel well. Go with Randode if your gonna drop that bad boy.

If you're going lower then 1.25-1.5 I wouldn't keep the stock struts. They will work but they aren't going to last very long. If you have the springs and shocks installed all at once you'll save yourself money on the labor to. IMO anything worth doing is worth doing right.

About the drop. You could always look into Hotchkis as well. They're a 1.7f & 1.97r drop. What size wheels are you going with?

The shocks really make a difference in the handling as well. I just put the TRD springs on my car and didnt have a spring compressor. I couldnt get the front TRD springs onto the TRD shocks without a compressor (got the rears on just fine)so I just put them onto the stock shocks. I drove around on it like that to get a spring compressor and the car felt good but not great. After I got the shocks installed, it was a dramatic difference...like installing a front sway bar. If you really want the car to handle better and utilize the new springs to their potential, you need to get shocks as well.
