Alignment Necessary?!?
well im lowereing my tC tomorroe and i've always been told that its best to get an alignment right after you lowerer your car...but i've asked around and people have either been waiting to align their car like a month after; or they just don't think its necessary? what do you guys think? how long can i wait to align it? i need some advice...lol thanks guys

I got my tC lowered almost as soon as I got it and didn't get it aligned till just now (6 months later.) it behaved just fine. I hit some major potholes recently and daily I drive over the crappiest bridge in the bay area (richmond-san rafael bridge.) usually I drive over it twice a day. the deck is quite bumpy in places. that and the potholes made me go get an alignment. when I got it the dealer said it was only slightly off, very minor adjustments were made.
hope this helps.

just for the peace of mind, i would suggest you do it. when i lowered my civic just 1.2 inches, i got lazy and didn't do an allignment and it killed my tires within 1 summer. an allignment is always cheaper than buyin new 17 inch tires.

It all depends on how badly you want new tires. If your going for the cost side of things, go for the allignment, however if you dislike the potenzas that came with the car don't do it.

i had an alignment check when i dropped mines with basics. it was only off by less than 1 degree. it wasnt anything major. and i have like one finger gap all around. so my drop was major coming from stock.
i can live with a little negative camber, especially onthe crap re92s.
i believe you can adjust the rear camber a little by 1 degree or less. but its hard to do it without the alignment sensors. im not too sure about the front.

it also depends on the install job. . . but in general, removing the struts and putting them back on alone may change your alignment, regardless of the springs that go in.
It's not just camber that may be off. . . your toe may be off, and you'd never feel in on the wheel. It happened to me, and it cost me tires. Let them settle first, and get them aligned. $40-60 (if you shop around) is good insurance for a brand new set of tires.

Interesting, I will have the dealer check my alignment when i take it in for 500 mile oil change (break in change)[/quote]
about the oil change i went to the dealer as well at 500 miles and they told me that with the svions its every 5000 miles??weird but he said its about the environment or something...but anyways...i dropped my tc as soon as i got it with tein s-techs and i had no problems you do want the springs to settle..its been about 4 months since i have had my tc and my rear wheels cambered out a little no huge deal but i got it fixed 2day from my bro he is a bmw mechanic....so its fixed the front is perfect but it is a good idea to get it aligned a few months after...

i did the drop my self...I've heard both sides of the story....get it checked..don't get it checked.
You won't be able to tell until the wear is already done to your tires. And by then, it's too late; once you get to the point where you've noticeably started uneven wear on your tire, there is nothing you can do to fix it, it will continue to wear that way.
I'm at 3600 miles. When i take it in for the 5000 mile checkup, i'm gonna have them check it. I guess we'll see if it was really off or not
