Default Brace bar mystery...

Got this for free with another item I bought for my tC. It appears to be a strut brace for the rear, but I can not seem to figure out how it installs.

Any thoughts?

If it's a rear strut bar, you need to pull just about everything out of the back of the car and cut holes in the side carpet for it to clear. If it's a C-Pillar bar, you need to cut holes in the C-Pillars for it to install. Either way, you'll get just about 0 gain out of it.

Ya, does appear to be a rear strut bar. If you do a search for rear strut bar, you should get some more pics and maybe even an install DIY. They're not too hard.

I'm feeling it'd be a complete waste of effort to mess with....yes?

For the performance you wouldn't really get from it, no, it's probably not worth it. You could probably eBay it for some $ though.

It's really quite nice....polished aluminum. But I'm not hacking up my cargo bay pannels to install something will net a minimal advantage. Plus, I still travel every month to drill, and need the room!

Actually, if you think of a price and want to ship it, let me know. I may be interested.

lol, its teh same bar as MMW rear strut bar. just take out the rear floor pieces (trunk panels) no cutting is required, it sits under the trunk floor and bolts onto the strut tower bolts, it stays completely hidden under the trunk floor.

I think some cutting of the black foam compartment things may be required... I'm not sure on that though. But ya, it does appear to be the same as the MMW one.

yea but thats not visible, cutting the foam shouldnt be a problem, someone mentioned earlier that you had to cut the carpet or somethin like that which is false

Oh ya... no carpet on this one. It's not even visible once installed and with a floor. Which is cool.

Did you drill holes to be able to adjust the COs without having to remove them? That was part of the reason I didn't bother with going that route... rear would be a PITA.

Nice. Definitely the way to go if you can't do EDFC.

My bad, I was thinking of the Greddy one (I think anyway). So I thought they all needed visible cutting. Regardless, the time it takes for installation still isn't worth the gain, lol. I say sell it and get a rear sway if you don't have one already.

Actually the install on this one really isn't that bad - aside from pulling the crap out of your trunk. But all said, there are like 3 bolts to get it all disassembled. Then 4 nuts total to remove and then insert the bar and reinstall the nuts.

As for the gain... well... likely wouldn't be very much at all if anything. That part of the car is already fairly rigid if you've ever seen it all taken apart.
