Default Brake pads slipping? 08' TC

So far I have owned two tc's. One of which I don't own anymore (06') and the other I still am financing (08'). Both vehicles were brand new off the lot. I have had the same problem with both and I am curious to know if anyone else has the same issue. Sometimes when coming to a complete stop, the road or pathway may be uneven, perhaps a pothole or cement slabs not flush so there might be a bump, and i go over and while slowing down calmy I can feel my brake pads slip. When this happens, all I can do is apply more pressure and hope that I don't hit anyone. Because of these experiences I am extra precautious when coming to stops these days. What does this mean? This also has happened when after having new brake pads installed. And this has happened in dry and wet times, mostly dry. Thanks for your time

That's your abs kicking in. Same thing should happen in the snow when try to slam on your brakes.

AYeah sounds like abs just have to learn to adjust to putting on the brakes sooner and easier.

I've had the same exact problem happen multiple times. I live in a really hilly (old mining town) and potholed area. There have been some tense times.

I once brought the car in for that problem and the service guy told me that ABS has been used for so long and is so reliable that my problem simply wasn't possible, but if I asked nicely they'd look at my car for $45. To this I replied "and accelerator pedals have been around longer and look how far that's gotten you."

Long story short if you bring it in they'll probably tell you to go fly a kite.

i do agree with everyone else it's probably abs kicking in...what I also know from personal experience is when I got rid of the original pads from toyota and got a performance brake pad the abs wasn't so eager to kick in.

With the original pads, it's like the abs sensors were confused with a lack of stopping power based on the input from the brake pedal. When the abs computer didn't see the amount of slowing that it thought the sensors should have based on the amount of braking that was being asked of the brakes, it kicked in the abs. Now with the performance pad, it's well beneath that abs "threshold" and abs never kicks in.. that's my experience and what I've seen happen.

So that "slipping" you're seeing is most likely the original toyota pad, which is stock.. Its ok, but you can do better. I personally like porterfield's r4-s carbon kevlar performance pad mmmm good stuff!

hope that helps!
