Manual says you cant, and also every FAQ for Scion tC says you cant....so definitely no.

it's a Front Wheel drive car...

if you were to put a trailer on the back of a tC, you'd take away a huge portion of the weight that holds the front wheels to the ground, so your traction would be shot...

going uphill, or on wet roads, you'd be screwed...

So, after that, do you still want to??

yes you can they make a class 2 hitch for it and the tc can pull about 1500 lbs. I have a hitch and a trailer for my bike and it does just fine. rides nice.

I've seen smaller/less powered FWD drive cars tow things so why not the tC. Of coarse I'm not saying tow a house, but I think it'll be okay to tow a motorcycle or a jetski.

Can you post a pic of what the hitch looks like on the car. Just wondering where it sites.

yeah, not sure why the tC wasn't certified to tow, seeing as you can tow up to 2000lbs with a Camry with the same engine...

Anyone can install a light hitch on it and you could technically tow something small. A bike rack is no problem and a very small trailer shouldn't hurt. You might want to install an additional cooler because it's going to put significant extra strain on things. Also, if you check the maintenance manual, it says to tighten all the chassis bolts if you're towing. Just take it real easy on starts and stops. Possible, yes. Do it with mine? Hell no.

Right... I've seen it on an old carolla wagon too. I'm sure it can be done and I am pretty sure I wouldn't want to do it with my car. It will "work" though. Don't complain to anyone if you wreck something.

Here's my hitch. Granted I don't tow a trailer or anything, but I think it can be done. hell, they must have put the holes and nuts in the chasis for something. After making the hitch it bolted right up.

Well, here is how I see it...
Yes, it has the pwr, fwd has NOTHING to do with it at all....BUT....
I would be guessing it would void alot of warranty areas. I dont KNOW this, but im just assuming that the toyota dealer would frown when you have like lets say a suspension prob, and have a hitch.

Just my 2 cents...
