Default Clunking noise - Megan Racing Coilovers!

Hello there, now before you yell at me and say do some research... I HAVE!! I rarely found anyone with a Scion tC that had a forum talking about their Megan Racing Coil overs. I recently bought the coils and everything seems to be ship shape BUT, the front sway bar end links are not long enough to attach to the coil over. Is there a way I can make that connection? Maybe taking the coil over off and attaching the end link FIRST then install the coil over back on the car? Or is there some adjustable end link that is made for this problem?? With that said, that is problem number uno...

Second, I adjusted the ride height, and adjusted the preload on the springs and tightened everything down, when I drive over bumps, I hear clunking noises from the front as if something was loose. At first I thought it was the springs (because thats what it sounded like) but when I checked it out, everything was tight and none of the rings were loose..I also checked all the nuts esp the one that is directly below the shock adjustment. Is it because the sway-bar is disabled and just basically not doing anything? The only thing I can think now, the noise is being made from the sway-bar not being connected to anything, basically just sitting there and every time I hit a bump it moves and makes that noise.. But.. I could be wrong... I am new in this car world , my friends helped me install the coil overs and they are thinking its the front sway bar as well.. So PLEASE tC owners, let me hear your inputs..

you need to pull the sway bar up and then attach it, not that hard just pull it pivots

Okay, will try that. Do you think that is making the noise as well?

You can also take another jack and put it under the hub. Jack the hub up compressing the coilover until the endlink meets up. Should take care of your clunking noise. Something not hooked up aka the sway bar will definitely be making some clunking noises.

Not sure if this is a stupid question, but is that putting stress on the end link? Possibly snapping it? Figured I would ask, just so I know

I figured its supposed to always be under some sort of stress. I'm not a suspension guru and those fellows can chime in and correct me but I'm assuming its some sort of a preload. I did what I mentioned above to connect my end links and have not had a single problem at all. Adjustable endlinks may not be a bad idea though.

did you have both front wheels off the ground? a sway bar is essentially a solid spring and if the other wheel is on the ground thats whats causing your problem.

When I installed my coilovers, I just put a jack under the sway bar to get it to rise up. The endlinks should be fine. Sometimes they can bend, but they are somehow stronger than some of the aftermarket endlinks.

I only had one wheel off of the ground. I thought about that too because that makes sense, but I just wasn't too sure because i've never done this before, so it is all new to me. But thank you for the advice!

Same thing I was about to chime in with. By the look of the pic, like you said I figured you only had the one wheels off the ground. You need to jack the entire front end up thus lifting both wheels. That way the sway will not be articulated downward and you'll be able to make the connection.

Thank you!! I just finished getting the endlink to attach the coilover because of your guys help! I really appreciate everything and not jumping on me to do "research".. Basically what I did is loosen the lug nuts, jacked up both sides of the car up and removed the wheel. My sway bar was actually under the cradle for some reason. I put a jack under the end link and jacked the whole sway bar up to break it free and it was adjustable! Put the end link in and attached everything to both sides and WOW ! The ride is SO SO SO much better. Everything is tight and very stiff. I can't really say I would recommend Megan Coilovers only because I have not sat in anyone else's car that had coil overs. So I cant be the one to judge which brand is better. BUT from what I experienced is the Megan Racing Coil overs are EXTREMELY nice, and alot of people especially with tC's dislike Megan. But imo, I LOVE THEM!

Overall, it was such an easy install and impressed with everything.. Thanks again guys!!!!
