Coilover / lowering spring install difficulty
hey everyone, i would LOVEE to lower my tc asap. its a 2010 bsp and im about to get some new rims as well. i dont want to pay someone to lower it because i know it will probably be outrageous in cost, so how hard is it to install coilovers or lowering springs??

My neighbor and I put coilovers on my tc just last Thursday and it took us 4 hours.
He's an ASE Certified Master Mechanic who worked in a shop for over 15 years and has all the right tools for working out of his garage. It's also pretty detailed and tedious work to make sure things are torqued to spec and adjusted so it is safe to drive.
All in all... like 09SoCalTc said, a solid 9 out of 10 for difficulty...with the right tools and helpful neighbors, 4 out of 10.

It was a pain but I'm glag I did it. I had started around 11 am and worked all the way through about 1:30 the next morning. Couldn't get it done till the day which took me less than 30 minutes to finish up. I would say it would have been much quicker if we didn't keep getting snagged up in stuff. I would say 3 people would be a good number of people to work on it especially pushing the back assembly down to get the strut out.

yea me and my dad did it in like 11 hrs, it was funny because we started in the back and just couldnt get the one to line up so 1 side too us like 7hrs, lol. Then other sides went by fast after we made sure we marked how everything was suppose to line up. Just take your time, and follow the DIYs. I got like 4 different ones that i looked at while i was doing it.

On a scale of how hard it is i'd rate it a 4 of 10.
I'm lowered on progress springs.
No air tools either took about 10 hours.
You have to have 2 people to do the rears getting those struts out by yourself is just setting you up for trouble.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. This was the first thing I have ever did on a car and it was easy. The only hard thing is how tight the f*cking bolts are. other then that it is easy

The bolts can be tight due to rust but you're car is new so you shouldn't have any problems with the bolts. I changed my suspension in 2008 ( I have a 2006 tc). it took me 8 hours by my self and a manual spring compressor from autozone. If I had to do it again it I can prob do it in half the time. btw, trd website has a pdf instruction that will show you how everything is supposed to line up. and if you call ken he can email you the instructions too.

I just took out my old JIC coilovers and put in my new FF coils. Took only a few hours and that all with hand tools, jack, and jack stands. Most important tool you will need is a breaker bar and some good knowledge. Took me only a few hours at a decent pace. It's always good to have another person around also for an extra hand and also to put in the back coils as you may need some help on the rears. Fronts are easy, backs are a little tougher. Again, use a really good torque wrench and torque everything to spec. I've done so many coilovers on the tC though that its becoming easy now...lol

if you know what your doing and have the right tools, a spring install should take about 2 hours. no more than 3.
coilovers will take a little longer since youll prob spend at least an hour just getting them dialed in.

you need a good big boy breaker bar, i swear the bolts on the tC, where torqued down by zeus...we even had to break out the biggest air gun, for the front driver side strut.
