Default The "Cone Avoidance" Special (56k coo')

I've splurged.

And for good measure...

But first thing's first. Sometime when I'm not working either of my two jobs or sleeping, I'll find something exactingly heavy and (attempt to) get a spring rate number for the H&R springs and post them here. Expect more pictures, too.

$64. They're quite nice looking, in my opinion, even though I know that half of that cost is for the MOMO printing on them. I actually wanted the MOMO Stealth Top pedal set, but I want to part with $115 for a set of pedals like I want a venereal disease.

Yeah the brand definitely inflates the price but those grips would be such an improvement over the stock pedals. So frustrating when your shoes are wet, argh.

Stock struts? And let me know how big of a difference the brake line/flid change is. That's what I'm looking to get into next...

Only because I don't particularly care about them. When they fail, I'll replace them.

I haven't actually gotten the brake stuff yet because from what GSC tells me, StopTech's inventory is all jacked up... I think he said something about a merger with PowerSlot messing up their inventory system.

Sigh. Okay, there's a niggling little doubt in the back of my mind. How bad of an idea was it to not get the Tokico shocks and rear camber links now, and to hold off on them?

Also, a local shop around here wants $700 to do the springs, sway bars, and brakes. Seems a bit steep; I was going to just have my ASE-certified friend and I do it all in his garage for more than half that. Good idea/bad idea?

I got help with my spring install which saved me about 300 dollars. If you have all the tools and knowledge for the installs then go for it!!

If you don't want to tear it all apart again and have the $, get the Tokicos now.

Oh and switching from OEM to H&R Sport shouldn't be that bad. You would probably be able to do it yourself with a friend with one of the Autozone compressors.

They sways on the other hand... I wish I had the $ to pay a shop to do the front at least. Just b/c it's a PITA. A lift should be listed as required on the instructions. Don't get me wrong, the front can be done in a driveway, but damn.

This is what I've heard. Reading up on it, I'm not looking forward to dropping the front sub-frame, but I really don't want my car to be out of commission for more than two days. Money vs. effort, though... I don't think I have much of a choice.

It's a choice between having all of the above shop installed, and getting the Tokico's and the rear camber links. Logic dictates that I'm just going to have to have the shop do it all again (which is MORE money) if I get the shocks/camber links later, so I think I'm going to have two more additions to my list soon.

Advance Speed Shop has been excellent through the whole process. The one problem I had with them was fixed over the phone immediately. I'm still waiting to pass judgement on GSC Motorsports (killertc.com). I've never had a problem with them when ordering things before, but their participation in at least letting me know when I can have my StopTech brake kit at my door has been... lacking.

Any particular reason you're going for the camber links? Do you plan on actually adjusting them and getting a certain amount of camber? I guess I just never saw the need for them.

Well, the same shop that wants to charge me $700 said that they won't do an alignment unless I have them. ing makes me lean more and more towards just getting the shocks and installing everything I can myself.

If the shop won't do an alignment without them, get another shop. Srsly. I'm sure that shop is good and all, but they're only H&R Sport, not a severe drop. A decent shop should be able to do it just fine.

Complete and total threadjack for a second, since there isn't much to report with the special:
ack, you get 8 runs per event!? I'm lucky to get half that at our events.

Sometimes we get 9 or 10.

But the most we usually get is 50 drivers to an event (except the last event which was a multi-region thing).

We have a fairly small region and most everyone helps out with stuff so we're pretty efficient. The biggest factor is usually how long the course is and if we can get two on at a time. But that kind of planning is going into the course designs lately so we almost always get 2 cars on at the same time.

Hey my buddy and me did mine.We used the manual spring compressors cause his buddies shop was closed on sundays. But it took a few hours. It was pretty easy. It helps to have a friend for sure. one with soem muscle too. But i got the tokico shocks with my H&R's and i love it. Defintley do what you can yourself. also you dotn need the rear camber links with this setup unless ya really want to have them. But that is BS that shop said you have to have them for the alignment. I didnt even get one with my setup. it dsrives fien and no tire ware other than normal. but maybe i got lucky. How bout you ACK i know we are running the same setup.
