And as for my buddy who did it on his 1st gen then switched i dont know how he did it because i didnt want anything to do with it and told him i would not help him do such a project....Although i did help when he installed real lowering springs

because I'm really particular about suspension on all that cars I have had in the last 11 years of me driving. and with all the suspension I have worked on in my own cars family member and in my dads shop, I have found with city driving cutting a stock spring has giving me a smoother ride then after market springs on a few of those cars. . Any one that has done this as many time as I have will only add a few extra minutes to installs. ( I was taught my dad, uncles guy that have been working on cars since the 60's and have showed me how to do something that are now longer done just because people don't want to. or know how to do them. ) I have no problem doing my suspsion testing something out. if I don't like it I will take it apart and redo it. I'm the one my friends call when then need suspension work done to their car. everthing from BMW to Lexus to Honda. so for everyone that is saying i'm diong for doing I hope you are saying this cause you have done the work yourself and not just cause you read something online.
No, you are not particular about your suspension, you want to drop the car and keep a smooth ride, which is the absolute wrong way to do it. I explained this in my earlier post. You either want to lower the car, or ride smooth.. doing both absolutely kills any last shread of handling performance the car has.

. Its your car and you can do whatever you want with it... but I find it interesting for you to act like you are so particular and have so much experience, yet you would even consider doing this to the car. Most of us are not trying to bash you... but rather talk you out of a bad idea.

Camber wont eat your tires unless it is WAY out. For handling purposes I run -1.75 in front and -2.0 in back.. my tires wear just fine. Toe, on the other hand will destroy them if too far out. So while I would like to run crazier toe settings up front for autox, I dont since I daily drive it. He can align out the changes most likely, but the whole idea is still not a good one.

also, are you cutting your stock springs or your generic ebay brand DZ springs? i'm confused which set your going to actually cut.

i just don't get why people are so cheap when it comes to lowering springs, i mean, at most they could cost $200 dollars, but most of them are way cheaper. you have so many to choose from.
x2

Why did you even bother starting this thread? Just do it if you're already so dead set on it. Stop trying to justify yourself because no one is going to agree with you

You can buy Tein H-tech springs for under $200.00......Inexpensive and a nice drop. If you wanna drop the car do it right.

Only if it is WAY out of spec, or in combination with toe that is out of whack.

Like I said, plenty of us.. and about 200 autox'rs that I know locally run the tC or other cars at -1.5 to -2 in the front with zero wear issues. More than that, and you start worrying about things a bit.. but at that or below, you will not have issues. It takes a lot of camber to kill your tires.
