Default cutting front TRD springs???

ok i know cutting a spring is not the best thing to do but i hate the way the TRD springs sit in the front and only want it maybe half inch lower up front. would it be recomened by you guys to cut maybe a half coil off the bottom of the spring? of course i would measure before i cut but just for talk sake probably around half coil or so. and would cutting a small amount off make the rate change any? the very bottom coil really doesnt do crap so i would consider cutting it. thanks for all the help everyone

Short answer = NO
Long answer = hell no.

Lower it right...period. You want it lower get Tein H techs. Don't do the chop shop ricer mods. Springs are not meant to be cut. Please remember you are talking about your suspension.....springs and components are not meant to be "cut, bent etc" If you want to make a change do it with worthy parts.

Good luck.

Agreed! Buy different Springs and save yourself all the hassles that may incur later down the road.

what you can do is sell your TRD springs and put the money towards a different set of springs

Even cutting your springs is retarded... but cutting just a half a coil is even more retarded b/c then the spring won't sit in it's perches correctly and you'll have even MORE issues.

GET THE RIGHT SPRINGS OR LEAVE IT ALONE!

i believe tein h techs will give you the exact drop you are looking for. sell the trd for sure to someone here or ebay and put that money into new springs.

deffinetly dont cut them. its not always the length of the springs that determines ride height. Its also the compression ratio. By cutting you just give an odd shape for it to sit on and compress.

DON'T DO IT!
Especially since the TRDs are progressive, it will totally screw up the handling of the springs.

I had the TRDs and after a year, I too was upset with the hight of the front. I switched to hotchkis for $150 or so and sold my TRDS for $75. But that's a big difference. I think the H.Techs are the drop you are looking for.

WOW!!!! i havent gotten that many replies that fast on any of my other posts. i guess the opinions of s/l members win this one. i was cosidering it just for short term since im getting a new house and i would not be looking forward to doing the rear springs right now with everything ive got going on. i have been considering the progress springs and skunk2 springs but i see 2.0 up front and 1.8 rear for skunk2 springs and i would like that drop, but i have also seen 2.4 front and 2.0 rear for the skunk2 springs to and thats to low for my car being a daily driver around here. thanks for all the feed back everyone!

I think you wold be better off getting new springs and riding with new fronts and old TRD rears then cutting springs.
But yeah, you wanna have them all done.

Seriously man, save youself the hassle. If you cut them you will have probs, if you mess up while cutting your spring is gone, plus you wont be able to sell them and get lil money to buy new ones, definitely not worth it.
