Default Do I have an LSD???

I believe I have a LSD equipped on my car from the factory when I bought my car, but I am not sure. Does anybody know the characteristics of a LSD? My car does pull hard off the line and leaves two even black strips up until both tires regain traction. I don’t know if this is just the stability control in effect or what. Normally stability control will ‘hunt’ for traction…

The tC does not have an LSD from the factory - you would have had to order it specifically with it. The tC also does not have Stability Control.

tC's don't have traction control.

wow...what a fail? do you even know what kind of car you bought? are you sure it is a scion?

you don't need LSD to do a burn out, you can do it with an open differential, lsd just makes it easier.

yeah, no, i wasn't talking about you, but i know that two wheel burn outs with the tc with the stock open differential are possible. rhythmsmoke posted it on youtube. i was just saying that making a matching pair of tire marks is not a surefire way to determine that the car has LSD, the LSD just makes it easier to do though.

Lol yes it’s a scion, I just wanted to be sure that it had a lsd before I put the synthetic transaxle oil for lsd without knowing if I had an open diff. I bought the car new not knowing it had an lsd, i just knew I paid extra for the sound system and air bags. I got the dealership to throw in floor lights and a trd exhaust system for free, but I guess they threw in the lsd for free too (or it already had it). I know now that it’s an lsd, after I performed the "dirt test"; with one tire in the dirt and one on the road, I let the clutch in and managed to loose traction on the pavement side along with the dirt side.

very unlikely you have it... especially if you brought it brand new.

a dealership throwing in a $1K+ part for free? you must be dreaming.. and the airbags come standard nowanddays... if you paid extra.. wow dude.

why would you pay extra for air bags? They come standard with all new models. What was your total price if you don't mind me asking?

the airbags in your seat aren't extra... they're standard.. like we've been telling you.
unless you somehow purchased a BRAND NEW 2007 tC.. side airbags (which include the ones in your seats and the curtains).. were extra then..

if you brought it brand new, and there's no mention of it having the TRD LSD installed on the window, you don't have it.

It is very unlikely they threw it in for free, that’s why i think it was already on the car. Explain this to me though. At zero I turn the wheel left and dump the clutch. As I turned I left a black Ark that was my out side tire. My inside didn't slip at all, or at least enough to mark the pavement.

uhh.. i suppose you messed the post above where it mentions that the stock differential is actually decent to prevent most people from experiencing the "one-wheeled wonder"

all the LSD does is prevent that even more.

how about lifting up the car? or using another surface? (ice works well)
the "dirt test" really isn't good enough to show you that you don't have a LSD.. there's still small factors with doing that.

i know that i don't have a LSD and i'm able to do what you mentioned.

Well......for a brand new 2008 scion tc the "standard saftey equipment", includes 4 abs, DR and pass SRS, Dr knee air bag, FR and Rr side curtain airgags, Seatbelt with pretensioners, rear steat belts and head restraints, Side impact door beams with first aid kit. car from the factory cost 17,715 including 715 dealer fee. Before i bought the car i read a review on the 08 tc which is apparent now that it is wrong "Safety features for all tC Scions include optional side-impact and side-curtain air bags ($650)"

lol the ice test does not work. ice turns any mechanical lsd into an open diff

And yea mabe you guys are right, ill find out when and if i put a turbo on the car. The whole point of me starting this thread though is not to find out by hearsay, which is what im getting right now, i wanted to know if there is a test i can do to find out

If you didnt pay for it, you dont have it. This can be solved by simply looking at your purchase papers.

Also my car is a 2008 and has seat airbags, says it right on the seat and I paid no extra.
