Question does the toyota warranty cover shocks or struts?

So I'm pretty sure something to do with the shocks or struts (maybe even axel?) is messed up in my tC. When I go over rough roads it sounds like something is impacting/shaking.

I was wondering if the toyota coverage would cover something like this ... I haven't used it once yet and it runs out in June.

I bought it (2005) new and have not put in any shocks/struts/bars myself, did not get the sway bar option, and have the extended warranty, if any of that matters.

No, shocks and struts are a wear and tear item so they wont warranty them especially if they are 4 yrs old.

That sucks ... I guess I'll never get to use my extended warranty

I've seen some other posts in this forum about a clunking/impacting sound going over bumps ... anyone have any guesstimates about what this might cost to fix?

I'm wary of bringing it somewhere until I'm prepared for what it might cost

Where is it coming from? Try to tighten up the 3 nuts where the front struts attach under the hood. Sometimes they loosen up and will make a clunking noise.

If it is truly the struts alot of people on here sell slightly used ones that you could pic up for cheap. Or you can buy new stuff at like trdsparks online.

The only way you're going to know is to take it in.

Take it to the dealer and tell them what the problem is (and nothing more). If you really haven't done anything to the car, it shouldn't be a problem for them to diagnose it and fix it for you.

HOWEVER... as mentioned, springs/struts are a wear and tear item - so if it is just that one of them has worn out and needs to be replaced - that is NOT covered. But if there is actually something else wrong they may be able to help.

The ONLY way you're going to know is to take it in.

I'm pretty sure it's coming from the back, although I could be wrong.

Where to the front struts attach? What about the back ones? Would it be visually obvious if the nuts were loose? I don't usually work on my car ...

the only way the springs, shocks/struts would be covered would be if the car is brand spanking new (2005 is 4 years old, so no) and it suffered an obvious manufacturer error.

but yeah, they wear out over time and mileage and have to be replaced just like brakes and tires and belts and air filters etc. might as well do all four corners and rest easy for another couple of years.

i had a female friend with a 99 integra and all she did was complain about it, well, she needed new struts, asked me to just find the cheapest ones since she didn't want to keep the car very long. after getting it done, she loved the car, told me it rode like it was brand new. all i ordered was the cheapest set off tire rack, i was stunned it made such a difference to her. i wonder how bad it was before.

Default shock problem

you're covered . extended warranty will cover it if its bumper to bumper warranty
. the problem would be if you have a deductible. do your home work before you take it to a dealer call extended warranty your self and check your coverage.

one more thing all toyota struts and shocks are life time warranty after you purchase a set. parts only. so if your extended warranty covers struts parts and labor. there after your struts should have a life time warranty. extended warranty is just like a paying customer. because its not a factory warranty....

check if you have extended warranty, many people dont realize that they purchased ext warranty... or others just replace there clusters.
