s-techs are springs only. you would need to get aftermarket struts to pair with them, not coilovers.
true coilover have the spring and strut incorporated...
though so cheap coilovers such as drop zone, are only a spring with a nut and bolt thread assembly on the end of the sprinf to allow it to compress or expand (adjust the hight of the car), these thype coilovers arent bad if you pair it with the struts that are optioanl with it.
you adjust the hight of coilovers manually, pretty much like a nut and bolt kind of assembly.
now tien does make coilovers that can incorporate an electronic module that allows you to change the damper of the strut, which will raise and lower your car, but it used for dampening.
hope i helped a little...

ahhhh, yes you did help clear that up.
Also helps w/ modding decisions. At first I wasn't going to alter suspension just yet, but now I'm thinking it'll be the first mods done...
re-evaluating my down payment now.............

i know this is like a month late haha..but i agree with the scionic MAN...just keep ur stock shocks/struts until they go bad...(at least 2-3 years depending on how u drive)..then get aftermarket shocks/struts after that..
i have my stechs with stock shocks/struts and it's been 5000K no problems at all...
